Emmys 2011: Fabs and Drabs
We were supposed to host a live chat during this year’s Emmy awards, but thanks to technical difficulties that didn’t happen. Too bad because this year’s show gave us plenty to talk about! Here’s a rundown of what was fab and what as drab at the 2011 Emmy’s. P.S. Mark your calendars for the Golden Globes; we will be live chatting that one.
Fabs
Jane Lynch: She zinged, she skitted, she kept the pace up, and she looked like she was having fun
Best Actress in a Comedy: It almost didn’t matter who won thanks to the glee with which the 6 nominees entered into the pageant-inspired presentation.
Friday Night Lights: Finally! Kyle Chandler, I heart you so much.
Ty Burrell’s acceptance speech: We think his dad would be proud of him, no matter how much makeup he was wearing.
Stevan Levitan’s wife during his acceptance speech: Master of the cut-eye.
Ricky Gervais’s hilariously edited intro
Kate Winslet: She wins for Mildred Pierce and is absolutely adorable running up on stage to breathlessly give all the credit to everyone else.
Drabs
Opening number (except the Mad Men bits)
Katie Holmes: Is anybody home?
The Emmingtons: what a waste of talent
Lonely Island medley: a good idea on paper, but those songs don’t translate to the stage well (still, Michael Bolton as a pirate never gets old)
What were your picks for the best and worst of this year’s Emmys?
