USA Picks Up Covert Affairs Season 2, Announces Fall/Winter Schedule
Surprising no one, USA announced today that they’ve picked up rookie hit Covert Affairs for a second season. A ratings success for the network, Covert Affairs has been outpacing ABC and CBS this summer, and builds on its lead-in from White Collar (also a solid performer) every week as well. No date for season 2 was provided, but we expect to see Annie Walker, Jai Wilcox, and Auggie Anderson back on our screens next summer.
In the meantime, USA also provided intel on the shows we’ll be watching on the cable network this fall and winter. PSYCH will return for the second half of its fifth season on November 10 with brand new cases waiting to be solved as well as a special Shawn & Gus version of the holiday classic “It’s a Wonderful Life” on Wednesday, December 15, at 9/8c. Cannot wait to see that! Burn Notice will also be back for a cold-weather run, returning November 11 with new episodes.
USA will also debut a new show this winter, Facing Kate. Premiering in January, Facing Kate stars Sarah Shahi who starred on the late, lamented Life and guest starred in an episode of PSYCH last season. She plays Kate, a top litigator frustrated with the endless bureaucracy and daily injustices she witnesses, who turns on the system to become the ultimate anti-lawyer: a mediator. Using her knowledge of the law, along with her savvy, intuition and a whatever-it-takes approach to resolving conflict, Kate finds the middle ground for a wide variety of adversaries — from Fortune 500 corporations to bitter divorces. After the death of her father, she finds herself at odds with the new boss, her stepmother Lauren Reed (Virginia Williams)…and in bed with her soon-to-be ex-husband, Justin Patrick (Michael Trucco), a top gun in the DA’s office. Helping her keep all of this chaos at bay is her trusted, geek-chic assistant Leonardo (Baron Vaughn).
As if that weren’t enough to ward off a chill, January also sees the return of White Collar and Royal Pains. That’s right, the perpetual-summer-in-the-Hamptons show will give us a look at what happens in the off-season when Hank, Evan, Divya & Co. weather winter at the beach.
