‘Leverage’ Coupling?
Sunday night, July 11, brings a new episode of Leverage called The Double Blind Job. In a time when everyone wants to see their favorite tv characters pair up on the show, Leverage certainly will not escape the office betting pools.
First, we had Nate and Sophie, who appeared to have a past that for whatever reason, didn’t pan out. They obviously worked together many, many times, but did romance enter the picture along the way? Most people agree that yes, it probably did. They are still trying to work it our too, it seems, judging by this season already. They each have their coffins that they choose to carry along from relationship to relationship. Sophie has an identity issue and doesn’t trust Nate. Rightly so, because Nate can’t seem to lick his alcohol problem. I could go on breaking this down, but fans of the show would be bored because they’ve already figured it out.
My interest for this article is Parker (Beth Riesgraf) and Alex Hardison (Aldis Hodge). Leverage fans have been crying for a hook-up between these two since the beginning of last season. I wasn’t a fan of this match, but I’ve slowly been won over. I think it’s because I like both characters so well. Hardison just cracks me up. I hang on his every word. I’m also a bit jealous of his complete tech knowledge and the toys he always has.
Parker (please, can we give her a first name?) is a mixed bag of delight, from wide-eyed innocence to devious thrill seeker. I love that about her. She has no fear that we’ve seen so far. She occasionally gives the appearance of not caring about anything or anyone, but we saw last season that she has a past that was very hurtful, and she was effected by it.
Hardison and Parker compliment each other well. They are a nice fit with the combination of brains and guts and that sweetness that peeks out from both. In the clip below, it looks like we may see a bit more of this possible pairing in Sunday night’s episode.
Parker is clearly not liking Hardison put his arm around the client to comfort her. I’m looking forward to this episode for two reasons. One is what I’ve been writing about: will Parker just come to terms with her feelings for Hardison or am I way off the mark? The other is for the sheer pleasure of watching Nate and Sophie combine their past experiences to come up with a plan.
Tune in with me this Sunday night at 9/8 central, on TNT, for The Double Blind Job. Don’t forget to enter our Leverage contest going on right now!
