Season Finales Here I Come

By  |

As the old saying goes, “April showers bring May flowers” but when you are a TV fan, like those of us here at NiceGirlsTV, May flowers are more like May (season) finales. Every TV show plans a big season finale whether it features high-powered drama, special effects, extra laughs or big stunt casting.

With all of this in mind, here is a list of the finales that I am most looking forward to seeing this month:

Starting with the CW, the finales of both The Vampire Diaries and Supernatural will air at 8 and 9 PM (respectively) on Thursday, May 13. I cannot wait to see what happens between Elena and the Salvatore brothers let alone what will happen to the Winchester brothers as well as the showdown between Michael and Lucifer since the apocalypse has been the crux of this season.

Staying with the CW, the finale of the long-running series Smallville will air on the CW at 8 PM on Friday, May 14. There is no telling what will happen to our would-be caped hero with Zod and all the Kandorians on the loose with the same super powers as Clark.

ABC has actually been my go-to network this year, which is surprising since in years past that has not always been the case. But, with the finales of the extremely delightful Castle set for 10 PM on Monday, May 17, the new show V coming to a close (hopefully only for the season) on Tuesday, May 18 at 10 PM. Of course, the mysteries of the island that is Lost is set for two-hours on Sunday, May 23 starting at 9 PM and the (presumed) end of FlashForward will be at 8 PM on Thursday, May 27.

The only show from NBC that I LOVE to watch is Chuck and the two-hour finale will air on Monday, May 24 from 8 to 10 PM. This is probably the finale I am most looking forward to see simply because this year has been so much fun regardless of the fan-related drama that has accompanied the season.

Over on CBS, I am curious to see what Shane Brennan has planned for both NCIS and NCIS: Los Angeles as their finales roll out at 8 and 9 PM (respectively) on Tuesday, May 25. The network that specializes in formula procedurals – while not up to the liking by many viewers – is appointment television for me. I, for one, am eager to see what will happen for both teams on both shows. Lastly, Medium will have its finale on Friday, May 21 at 9 PM and it will be interesting to see what dreams befall Alison and her family.

While May is known for its finales, there are a few other highlights that should be pointed out. One of them is the return of the critic- and fan-favorite series (albeit low-rated) Friday Night Lights, which will be back on NBC at 8 PM on Friday, May 7. I am one of the fortunate ones who has DirecTV so I have already seen the new season of Friday Night Lights along with NiceGirl Tiffany – and I can vouch for how excellent the season is – but it will be great for everyone else to finally get to see the much-buzzed about series.

FOX will air a special preview of the drama The Good Guys on Wednesday, May 19 at 8 PM. This is the show starring Bradley Whitford of The West Wing fame and Colin Hanks of Roswell fame (and Tom Hanks’ son to boot). They are unlikely partners in the petty crimes department – one is a by-the-book detective while the other is more of a maverick, old-school cop.

Lastly, in preparation for the June 6 second season premiere of the popular Lifetime summer series Drop Dead Diva, the network will reair the entire first season in a marathon from 10 AM to 11 PM on Sunday, May 30.

What are the season finales you are most anticipating? Please share as we would love to know what the readers of NiceGirlsTV have to say.
