Mariska Hargitay Goes Undercover on Law & Order: SVU

We don’t talk about Law & Order: SVU much here, but I do watch it periodically in large part because it features one of the strongest female roles on television in Detective Olivia Benson. Played by Mariska Hargitay for the past 11 years, Detective Benson has dealt with untold horrors and tragedies in her own life and in the lives of the victims she assists, but remains compassionate and hopeful. Tonight’s episode of Law & Order: SVU sees her once again going above and beyond the call of duty to find the truth when she goes undercover to solve a murder.

After a young woman is sexually assaulted and murdered, Benson and Stabler (Chris Meloni) follow leads and soon discover that the victim had been deeply involved in the fight to expose questionable practices in the meat-packing industry. Going undercover, Benson retraces the victim’s footsteps in an effort to identify who she might have angered along the way.

Law & Order: SVU airs Wednesdays at 10/9c on NBC.
