Nice Boy of the Week: Michael Urie
Congratulations to our new Nice Boy of the Week, Michael Urie! We’ve chosen Michael in honor of the Ugly Betty series finale, which aired last night. Michael played Marc St. James on the show, which ran for four seasons. Marc was Wilhelmina Slater’s (Venessa Williams) assistant at Mode and although Michael was only scheduled to appear as a guest star, Williams enjoyed the chemistry between her and Urie so much that he was ultimately signed on as a regular.
Michael’s roots are planted in the theater where he began as a student at Julliard, in a performance in the world premiere of Love and Happiness. From there, he appeared in student productions of Sylvia and Locked Away. He also received the 2002 John Houseman Prize for Excellence in Classical Theatre from Julliard.
Michael’s other credits include the voice of Sebastian in Disney’s Beverly Hills Chihuahua, hosting TLC’s Miss America Reality Check and presented the British National Television Award for Best Performance in a Serial Drama. He also returned to the theater for a one-night staging of Dreamstuff, which he directed.
Michael and Ugly Betty star and best friend, Becky Newton, host Ugly Betty‘s official podcast and he has his own personal website which is currently under construction. You can follow Michael with us on Twitter and you’ll see, as we do, just what a Nice Boy he is! Thought we are sorry to see Ugly Betty go, we will be watching out for Michael in future projects. We know there will be many for this talented actor. Currently, you can catch him in The Temperamentals playing at the New World Stages in New York.
