Here are the entertainment news items for this week, which was a light news week because of the holiday:

NEWS

After a marathon two-day negotiating session, FOX and Time Warner Cable executives on Friday have come to terms on the contentious retransmission consent agreement that threatened to knock numerous Fox channels off Time Warner Cable systems.

CASTING SCOOP

Mayim Bialik (Blossom) will have a recurring role on The Secret Life of the American Teenager, portraying Dr. Wilameena Bink, a counselor that fills the vacancy left by Mr. Molina.

Scott Porter (Friday Night Lights) will appear in the Syfy series Caprica.

RUMOR PATROL

Sam Worthington is being considered for the remake of Flash Gordon.

James McAvoy is rumored to be playing Ian Fleming in the biopic that is in development about the James Bond author. The story is to focus on his younger years as an aimless playboy growing up under the shadow of a famous family, and his experiences in WWII that changed his life and gave him inspiration for the character of 007 based on his own exploits. The story will be based on the book by Andrew Lycett which Matt Brown (Ropewalk) has adapted.
