Meeting People

By  |

Now that the insanity of The Critics’ Association is over, I’m happy to have had the pleasure to talk to Daniel the TV Addict and Jace of Televisionary, who were gracious hosts once I figured out what was going on (Thursday morning witnessed a few snafus at the hotel, from the Twitter DoS, to an entire circuit going out which had most of our section wondering about the power situation during the writing break.) The three of us chatted during all of the panels, and generally kept each other spirits up during the day (constantly bemoaning the lose of Twitter all the while.)

After the three of us survived a day in the room (complete with Jace and I whipping up meringue for Baked Alaska in a time that did not impress Gordon Ramsey in the least), the party started. One of the best parts about TCAs is the networking, even the casual conversations you have with other people who take an interest in television. By the end of the night, I’d managed to have small conversations with one of the many people who tirelessly work for The Futon Critic as well as many actors and creators connected with Nice Girls’ favorites.

Here’s where I’m constantly surprised by those I watch on my television each week–their memories. As I started to talk to John Francis Daley (details will be posted later, I promise), I reminded him that I had met him at a concert almost a year ago. He remembered the moment before we started to talk about the upcoming season. Equally good with a face was Harry Lennix, as well as Hart Hanson.

Best of all goes to TJ Thyne, Nice Boy (retired) who continues to put a smile on my face almost a week later.

The sad part is that I have to come down from this. How does that work?

Roz lives in the Los Angeles area, and has been a long time California girl. Despite her better judgment, she enjoys shows about the shallow sides of her home city, but will also find time to watch iZombie, Jane the Virgin, and much more. With a love of history, she also watches anything that is grounded in real life, including Victoria and black-ish. Having worked with children, she also follows shows she knows they watch (reminding her of those days of yore for her in the process). Contact her at roz@nicegirlstv.com.
