Nice Boy of the Week: Steve Franks

By  |

Meeting creator/writer/executive producer Steve Franks at this year’s Comic Con was an unexpected treat. He is so full of energy and his sense of humor is always on. It was like watching mini episodes of Psych being played at our little round table, which he dubbed “the fun table”. And really, it was! We didn’t stop laughing until he left. It’s funny, I didn’t see stand-up comedy on his list of credentials.

What is on his list are things like his first screenplay success, which was for “Big Daddy”, starring Adam Sandler. Franks then went on to do various projects for NBC, ABC and CBS. A big fan of shows like Moonlighting and Magnum P.I., Franks created a show where he can pay homage to those detectives in his own way. Enter Shaun and Gus. His talents also include that of composer on Psych. The playful theme song you hear at the beginning of each episode? That’s Steve’s baby.

One more thing you won’t find on Steve Franks’ list of creds is that you could pretty much name any city in the country and he will tell you about a fantastic restaurant there. It’s a gift. One that was good enough to earn him a spot on our Nice Boys Wall of Fame.
