The People That You Meet at Comic Con
The other Nice Girls have weighed in on their Comic Con experiences this year, so now it’s my turn. It’s always a celebration when you are among people who enjoy the same things you do; watch the same shows, and squee over the same talent as you. That’s the atmosphere at Comic Con – celebration. People come dressed in full costume, or even partial costume. I don’t always know who the characters are that they are trying to portray, but it doesn’t matter. The fans know who belongs to what.
This year, I met more than fans. I read a lot of blogs and TV media websites. Lots! I have their news fed to my reader and my Google alerts set to update when they update. There are some that I enjoy more than others, simply because I’m used to their style of writing and I’m interested in seeing where they’ve gone and who they’ve met and partied with. So imagine my surprise and thrill to be seated next to BuddyTV‘s own Kim Wetter during the Supernatural press. At the same table were Marlaine from Whedonopolis and Emma from Fanbolt.
In the press room for Psych and Burn Notice were Jason, the TVaholic, Curt from Chicago’s Red Eye, Amrie from My Take On TV, and Rae from Ramblings of a TV Whore. We were the fun table! I know I didn’t laugh quite so much or hard at any other press I attended there. Although, Misha Collins, in the Supernatural press room, came pretty close. It was difficult to laugh with him, seen as how he was in some discomfort from a bicycle accident he was in the day before.
We also saw a bit – a very little bit – of our buddy, the TV Addict in one of the panels. I don’t remember which one, right now. Comic Con will do that to you. But yes, we were sitting in the front row of this particular panel that I can’t remember, and our TV buddy came and sat next to me, then got up and asked that I save his seat for him (it was prime!), and proceeded to disappear. But that’s okay, Daniel, we understand how things go when you are The TV Addict. We can even forgive you for not showing a Nice Girl some love when you got into the EW party. We’re okay with it. Mostly. Sometimes. Well, okay, if I have to be honest, you hurt my one and only feeling.
The coolest thing, for me, was meeting The Watcher , Mo Ryan, of the Chicago Tribune. Mo is good times, and I wish we would have had more time with her for girl talk and TV chat. Maybe next year.
