Confessions of a Twitter-holic
Stuck in traffic? Twitter about it! Eating a fabulous lunch – Tweet. Going to take a shower – Tweet, Tweet! Twitter is the new Facebook. It’s the new Chat. It’s addictive. Take it from this Twitter-holic, there’s just no escaping it. I simply cannot stop! There has to be a HELP line for people like me.
You can Twitter from your laptop or your cell phone. There are even applications whereby you can follow many Twits or multiple accounts. I use Seesmic. Oh, how I would miss those familiar ding-dings sounding off from my laptop. Because now, I have to know what’s going on with everyone, just as much as I have to Tweet what I’m doing. I don’t even care if no one cares!
You can follow your friends, bloggers, actors, authors – the world is at your Tweet feet. It’s amazing and wonderful when Jeffrey Donovan thanks you for watching Burn Notice. Or when Kyra Sedgwick is talking about a scene she’s just filmed. What?! Why is this thing so appealing to us? I think it’s because a lot of us want to feel like we can take our friends everywhere with us. Share those little, meaningless moments. Almost like having them in the same room with you when they can’t be there. Some like Twitter for networking their businesses, and it seems to be working.
My one and only wish is that someone would come up with a “Twitter for Dummies” cheat book. As hooked as I am, there are some things I don’t understand, and I’m sure I’m not using all of Twitter’s fun gadgets. Or, I’m using some things wrong, which is very likely. Maybe I should Tweet that!
Ah, yes, the world grows smaller and smaller, and our lives become less and less a closed book. You are all in my house and I’m visiting yours. As soon as I hit my “Publish” button, I know this post will appear on Twitter.
I’m listening to my children play right now – Twitter.
Going to my son’s baseball game – Twitter.
Signing off – Twitter!
