When a Hiatus is Useful

By  |

I know, last week I complained about not having any shows to watch, but this week happened and I realized the one good thing about hiatuses: time to rewatch old favorites, pick up new shows, or venture into the line outside of the boob tube.

During the usual December/January hiatus, I finally sat down with Buffy the Vampire Slayer and watched the show all the way through. (I will not get into how I never had watched the show before, because it’s a longer story than needed tonight.) I finished with just enough time to see the few new episodes of some of my shows, and then more of those shows left me again, not to return until later this month.

I suppose the downside to a very fluid job is that when I’m not working, I happen to sit around my house with nothing else to do. In the last two weeks alone, I’ve managed to watch two seasons of television without much thought. Last week was Studio 60 on the Sunset Strip and this week it’s Veronica Mars, season two. I’m pretty sure there was a week where I went back to Bones, season three.

I suppose that without much else to watch, it’s a good experience to watch shows again. There’s always a new experience to be had when looking at a show after a few years. Worry about me, however, I start to watch the middle two seasons of The OC, as I’ll need serious help there.

Roz lives in the Los Angeles area, and has been a long time California girl. Despite her better judgment, she enjoys shows about the shallow sides of her home city, but will also find time to watch iZombie, Jane the Virgin, and much more. With a love of history, she also watches anything that is grounded in real life, including Victoria and black-ish. Having worked with children, she also follows shows she knows they watch (reminding her of those days of yore for her in the process). Contact her at roz@nicegirlstv.com.
