Someone’s been to Mexico

By  |

One of my long standing goals is to finally visit Mexico. Yes, I realize that as someone who lives two hours away, I should have done it before, but that’s not the point of the entry.

Unlike me, one of my favorite TV women will be spending plenty of time in Mexico during the summer. Weeds, this season will be spending plenty of quality time there, and I can’t wait to watch.

This season we find Nancy and her family on the move from Agrestic and heading south of the border. Last we left Nancy and kin, they were driving away from the fires that had overrun the town.

It’s created a new dynamic–separating Nancy, Andy, Silus and Shane from Dan, Doug and Celia. Of course, the show has done everything to establish that for some time, we won’t see everyone all together as we had last season. On one side, we have Nancy’s crew going to visit Judah’s grandmother near the beach, while everyone else remains in Agestic.

Nothing is easy for anyone, however (when is it ever easy for anyone on this show?) Celia has been framed and is spending plenty of “quality time” in the county jail, while Doug and the rest of the gang keep Nancy off the radar from the DEA. Too bad for Nancy that her plan to visit Bubby failed. Instead of just finding her, Nancy finds her cranky father-in-law (played by Albert Brooks) who wants nothing to do with her or Andy. However, given enough money, he’ll happily forget that they’re around to interupt his days at the races.

Of course the second episode ends with Celia’s story, finally, being believed by the DEA agent. Looks like there’s going to be more trouble at the Border for Nancy. Which doesn’t help her when trying to navigate Guillermo’s world of trafficing.

Roz lives in the Los Angeles area, and has been a long time California girl. Despite her better judgment, she enjoys shows about the shallow sides of her home city, but will also find time to watch iZombie, Jane the Virgin, and much more. With a love of history, she also watches anything that is grounded in real life, including Victoria and black-ish. Having worked with children, she also follows shows she knows they watch (reminding her of those days of yore for her in the process). Contact her at roz@nicegirlstv.com.
