UNDERGROUND: Teaser and Photos Released

Underground, WGN America’s latest scripted drama, has released a few new teases about the upcoming season.

Slated to debut in early 2016, the show follows a group of people connected to a plantation in the south as the slaves try to escape into freedom.

Staring Jurnee Smollett-Bell (“True Blood,” “Friday Night Lights”), Aldis Hodge (“Straight Outta Compton”), Christopher Meloni (“Sin City: A Dame to Kill For”), Alano Miller (“Jane The Virgin”), ‎Jessica de Gouw (“Arrow,” “Dracula”), Marc Blucas (“Buffy the Vampire Slayer”), ‎Adina Porter (“The 100”), Mykelti Williamson (“Justified,” “24”), ‎Amirah Vann (“Girls,” “And So It Goes”), Johnny Ray Gill (“Rectify”), Chris Chalk (“Gotham”), Reed Diamond (“Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.”), Theodus Crane (“The Walking Dead”), Renwick Scott (“Treme”) and Jussie Smollett (“Empire”), the already has the potential to be a huge hit.

With creative team Misha Green, Joe Pokaski, Academy Award®-winning writer Akiva Goldsman (“A Beautiful Mind,” “I Am Legend”) of Weed Road Pictures, Tory Tunnell (“King Arthur,” “Holy Rollers”) and Joby Harold (“King Arthur,” “Edge of Tomorrow”) of Safehouse Pictures, and John Legend, who also oversees the score, soundtrack and all music elements of the series, with his partners Mike Jackson and Ty Stiklorius of Get Lifted, the show has both the savvy of established successful shows and energy from first time showrunners.

Produced by Sony Pictures Television and Tribune Studios, “Underground” is slated to premiere in early 2016, on WGN America.
