Who Would Make a Cool TV Mom

By  |

This weekend families all over the world will be celebrating Mother’s Day with the most important person in their lives (next to their dads, of course). And for those of us who live for all things TV-related, it’s time to celebrate our favorite small screen moms.

This time around, though, I decided to put a little spin on the typical favorite TV moms list by taking a look at some of the women who reign on the small screens who have yet to be moms, but for whom I think will make cool moms someday.

STANA KATIC

1. Detective Kate Beckett (Castle) – Kate Beckett has made quite a transition over the course of the show’s seven seasons on ABC. She’s still a kick-ass, tough homicide detective but now she is also a wife to mystery writer and police consultant Richard Castle. There have been different moments throughout the show’s run where Kate and Rick have talked about children; and whether fans of the show will see this couple becoming parents together or not is only known to the writers, I think Kate would make a great mom.

Seeing Red

2. Felicity Smoak (Arrow) – Felicity may not be at the point where she is ready to have children; and for that matter, would she have them with Ray Palmer or Oliver Queen. In fact, having children with either of these men seems too far gone at this point, but regardless of who the dad is, I think that Felicity would be a really cool mom. Don’t you?

GRIMM -- Episode 219 -- Endangered

3. Rosalee Calvert (Grimm) – After everything that Rosalee and her husband Monroe have gone through on the fairytale-laced series on NBC – upset parents over their mixed-Wesen marriage, that Nazi-like group that nearly took Monroe’s life because of his choice in a life partner and all the crazy cases they’ve helped Nick Burkhardt to solve, I think that this newly married couple deserve a tremendously huge break and then maybe the pitter patter of little Blutbad or Fuchsbau feet in their home.

Suits - Season 3

4. Donna Paulsen (Suits) – Much like Felicity, Donna may not be ready to have children yet; and it would be interesting to see who the baby daddy would be, but she is such a great TV character that it would be very cool to see her as a doting mother, taking her kid(s) to acting class – since that is her passion – and who knows maybe even opening her own acting study for kids. Maybe that’s a bit far-fetched but after all the insanity at the law firm perhaps Donna would want to simplify her life and follow her real ambition.

5. Jane Rizzoli (Rizzoli & Isles) – Jane Rizzoli is much like Kate Beckett: tough, kick-ass homicide detective, who has already been pregnant to her long-time love Casey, but that child was, sadly, not meant to be. That shouldn’t, however, stop Jane from thinking about having another baby, of course, when she is ready. And much like Kate Beckett, I think that Jane would make a great mom and she’d have an amazing support team with her mom, best friend Maura, both of her brothers and, of course, Vince.

Rizzoli & Isles - Welcome to the Dollhouse

I am sure there are plenty of other cool female characters on TV who have yet to become moms who could be included on this list so please share your thoughts on those who should be added to the list in our comments section below.

And to all the moms out there: Happy Mother’s Day!!
