Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D: “A Hen in the Wolf House” Roundtable

By  |

There’s a new agent in the house this week, the beautiful and deadly Bobbi Morse, and she has already made quite an impression.

1. What are your first impressions of Bobbi Morse, and what do you think of the revelation she is Hunter’s “she-devil” ex-wife?

Liz: I love her! It was like watching the Black Widow in The Avengers! And the fact that she is Hunter’s ex is priceless. I see many very funny moments in the future with them.

Leah: I like her (I like the actress) and I loved how flustered and annoyed Hunter was when he realized he has to work with her. The fact that she saved Simmons was also a plus.

Louise: Oh my do I love her! Well, I’ve always loved Adrianne Palicki (since Friday Night Lights), but this is an amazing role right now. She’s strong, she’s devious and she kicks ass. The added bonus of Hunter’s ex wife is icing on my already wonderful SHIELD cake.

Jan: She had me going, I really thought she was one of the bad guys right up until she saved Simmons. I like that she’s so bad-ass, and it’s an added bonus that she gets under Hunter’s skin. This should be good.

2. Simmons is back in the fold, is that a good or bad thing for Fitz (who had finally said goodbye to the imaginary version)?

Liz: I can’t tell yet. It’s for sure their relationship will be different. Fitz thinks that Simmons left him on purpose because he finally revealed to her how he felt about her. I don’t think he’s going to trust her like he’s done in the past. It’s going to take some time.

Leah: Oh Fitz. My heart breaks for him every episode. He’s about to make real friends and be more apart of the team and in comes Simmons. I’m very glad she is back because I do not love how fractured the team has been but…poor Fitz. I think in the long run it is a good thing.

Louise: Right now I can’t tell. I mean, Fitz let go of the illusion Simmons in her proper attire from last year, but now he’ll have to handle a woman who is way more adept at lying to meet her ends.

Jan: It was such a sad moment when Fitz asked if it’s really her. He doesn’t know what’s real and what isn’t where Simmons is concerned these days. I hope it doesn’t set him back, because he still seems rather fragile. It’s good to have her back with the team though.

3. Reina was terrified of two men this episode, for good reason. Who inspires more fear as a foe, Daniel Whitehall or Skye’s father?

Liz: I think it’s an even match. Both men are crazy insane.

Leah: While quick to anger physical violence is scary (Skye’s Father) contained focused violence (Whitehall) is much scarier. I want to feel bad for Reina because she was terrified but how does that saying go, ‘You’ve made your bed…now you have to lie in it.’

Louise: Both of them are bad in my opinion – for different reasons. Whitehall is the cool menacing evil that makes your skin crawl whereas Skye’s father is just violent to the point of intimidation.

Jan: Individually, both of those guys are maniacs. Together, it’s a whole new league of evil. I think Skye’s father might have an edge on scariest, because he has no self control when he’s angry which makes him a wildcard.

4.Who was the episode’s MVP?

Liz: Bobbi Morse, no contest.

Leah: Bobbi with her bad ass batons and her Fitz saving, Hunter bothering.

Louise: BOBBI MORSE FTMFW!!!

Jan: Bobbi Morse! She made a great entrance.

5. Favorite scene from “A Hen in the Wolf House”?

Liz: When Bobbi takes out those Hydra men definitely earned a “W00t!” out of me!

Leah: Coulson and Skye at Skye’s Dad’s abandoned hideout. Coulson and Skye haven’t been as close as they were last season. Him letting his ‘I have a scary secret and I’m director now wall’ down and giving her a hug while she cried (like a father figure) WHILE her father watched via video feed was perfect for me.

Louise: I love Bobbi’s “jailbreak” of Jemma, and the hearts in Jemma’s eyes when she retells it to Coulson and May later.

Jan: Hunter learning his hated ex-wife is on the team he just joined, and played a role in him getting his job. The look on his face was priceless.

Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. airs Tuesdays at 9/8c on ABC.

TV fanatic, podcaster, writer, competitive hula hooper. Okay, that last part might be a lie.
