May TV Calendar

The following list provides the dates of the returning cable and major network dramas as well as new cable and major network dramas, made-for-TV movies and mini-series that will air during May:

May 1 – Vikings will air its season finale on the History Channel at 10 PM

May 3 – The Real History of Science Fiction 4-part special on BBC America will air its third part, centering on Invasion, airing at 10 PM

NOTE: The final part of The Real History of Science Fiction special about Time has yet to be scheduled.

May 3 – A half-hour behind-the-scenes special 24: Live Another Day: Jack Is Back will air on FOX at 8:30 PM, featuring interviews with the director, producers and series stars

May 3 – The Lifetime movie A Daughter’s Nightmare will debuat 8 PM

MOVIE SYNOPSIS: Soon after her father’s death, college freshman Ariel (Emily Osment from Hannah Montana) learns her mother, Dana, has met Adam (Paul Johansson from One Tree Hill), a seemingly well-meaning and charming man at a grief support group. He claims to be a nurse, but the longer he hangs around the sicker and more isolated Dana becomes, even from Ariel. When Dana suddenly goes missing, it’s up to Ariel to discover the terrible truth of Adam’s past before it is too late. With the help of Adam’s son Ben (Gregg Sulkin from Pretty Little Liars), they will stop at nothing to bring Dana back.

May 4 – The season finale of the new drama Resurrection will air at 9 PM on ABC

The Tomorrow People

May 5 – The season (possibly series) finale of The Tomorrow People will air on The CW at 9 PM

May 5 – The two-hour premiere of 24: Live Another Day will air on FOX at 8 PM

NOTE: The series moves to its regular timeslot of 9 PM on May 12 and there will be encores of every episode on Friday nights at 8 PM, starting May 9.

May 5 – Bates Motel will air its season finale on A&E at 10 PM followed by the “Bates After Hours” special

May 7 – The season finale of CSI will air on CBS at 10 PM

May 9 – Unforgettable, Hawaii Five-0 and Blue Bloods will both air their season finales on CBS at 8, 9 and 10 PM respectively

May 10 – The second season of the BBC America 6-part mini-series In the Flesh will return at 10 PM

May 10 – The Hallmark Channel original movie Mom’s Day Away will debut at 8 PM

MOVIE SYNOPSIS: A stay-at-home mom decides to finally chase her dreams and spends Mother’s Day weekend away from home. During her time away, she learns that living a glamorous life won’t bring her happiness without her family by her side. The film stars Bonnie Somerville (Golden Boy) and James Tupper (Revenge).

May 11 – The new UP Channel movie My Mother’s Future Husband will debut at 7 PM

MOVIE SYNOPSIS: Headly Anderson (Matreya Fedor from The Troop) is a precocious 15-year-old who is extremely close to her mother Rene (Lea Thompson from Switched at Birth), especially since her father passed away three years earlier. Headly and Rene jog together, get manicures together and watch movies together. They also hang out often at the diner that Rene owns. When Headly falls for a boy at school, she realizes that she has no time to cultivate her social life – she is always with her mother. She wants her mother to find love again and she wants to get her first real kiss so it is clear what she needs to do – find her mother a husband. The cast includes Lochlyn Munro and Sebastian Spence (Cedar Cove).

May 11 – The Showtime thriller Penny Dreadful will debut at 10 PM

Show Synopsis: This psychosexual thriller will focus on some of literature’s most famously terrifying characters, including Dr. Frankenstein, Dorian Gray and iconic figures from the novel Dracula, all set in Victorian London. The cast includes Josh Hartnett (Black Hawk Down), Timothy Dalton (The Living Daylights, License to Kill), Eva Green (Casino Royale), Reeve Carney (Spider-Man: Turn Off the Dark) and Billie Piper (Doctor Who, Secret Diary of a Call Girl).

May 11 – Once Upon a Time will air its two-hour season finale at 8 PM on ABC followed by the one-hour season finale of Revenge at 10 PM

May 11 – The four-hour adaptation of the 1967 best-selling suspense novel Rosemary’s Baby will debut at 9 PM on NBC

MOVIE SYNOPSIS: The film centers on a young married couple (Zoe Saldana and Patrick J. Adams from Suits) who move into a Paris apartment that has a haunted past. After getting pregnant, the wife becomes increasingly suspicious that both her husband and their neighbors will have ulterior motives when her child is born. The cast includes Jason Isaacs and Carole Bouquet.

NOTE: The second part of the movie will air on May 15 at 9 PM.

May 12 – 24: Live Another Day will move to its regular timeslot of 9 PM on FOX

May 12 – The season finale of Star-Crossed will air at 8 PM on The CW

May 12 – The Blacklist will air its season finale on NBC at 10 PM

MOVIE SYNOPSIS: A couple (Minnie Driver and Paul Adelstein) are forced to deal with the aftermath of a late-term stillbirth and the stress it puts on their relationship and their second pregnancy. The cast includes Alfred Molina, Connie Nielsen, Sarah Jones, Andrea Anders and Kathy Baker.

May 18 – The 2014 Billboard Music Awards will air at 8 PM on ABC

May 18 – The season finales of The Good Wife and The Mentalist will air on CBS at 9 and 10 PM respectively

May 19 – The season finale of Bones will air at 8 PM on FOX

May 19 – Warehouse 13 will air its SERIES finale on Syfy at 9 PM

Supernatural

May 20 – Supernatural will air its season finale on The CW at 9 PM

May 21 – The season finales of Revolution, Law & Order: Special Victims Unit and Chicago P.D. will air on NBC at 8, 9 and 10 PM respectively

May 21 – The Canadian cop series Motive will be back for another season on ABC at 10 PM

May 22 – The new FOX drama Gang Related will debut at 9 PM

Show Synopsis: The series follows a rising star in Los Angeles’ Gang Task Force. The cast includes Ramon Rodriguez (Battle Los Angeles, The Wire).

May 22 and May 23 – The four-hour event mini-series Labyrinth will air on The CW at 8 PM each night (two-hour airings each night)

Mini-Series Synopsis: This historical mini-series jumps back and forth between modern and medieval France, following the lives of two women who are separated by centuries, but united in their search for the Holy Grail. The cast includes John Hurt (Doctor Who), Sebastian Stan (Once Upon a Time and Political Animals), Jessica Brown-Findlay (Downton Abbey) and Tom Felton (Harry Potter franchise).

May 23 – The season (possibly series) finale of Hannibal will air on NBC at 10 PM

May 25 – The HBO film The Normal Heart will air at 9 PM

MOVIE SYNOPSIS: The film tells the story of the onset of the HIV-AIDS crisis in New York City in the early 1980s, taking an unflinching look at the nation’s sexual politics as gay activists and their allies in the medical community fought to expose the truth about the burgeoning epidemic to a city in denial. The cast includes Mark Ruffalo, Matt Bomer, Taylor Kitsch, Alfred Molina, Jim Parsons, Julia Roberts, BD Wong, Corey Stoll, Denis O’Hare, Jonathan Groff.

May 25 – Mad Men will airs is mid-season finale on AMC at 10 PM

May 26 – The two-hour TV movie Bomb Girls: Facing the Enemy will air on Reelz Channel at 9 PM

MOVIE SYNOPSIS: Under constant pressure to turn out more bombs, as well as work on a new secret sonar line, the women of Victory Munitions band together in a tight bond of support and friendship. But when a disturbing menace appears in the form of a saboteur among the factory workers, Gladys Witham (Jodi Balfour), a fiery young woman from privilege, is covertly recruited by Allied Intelligence to find the traitor, forcing her to spy on her best friends, co-workers and fellow agents and call into question everyone and everything she trusts.

May 26 – Hit the Floor is back for its second season on VH1 at 9 PM

May 26 – The Lifetime original movie Petals on the Wind, based on the V.C. Andrews book, will debut at 8 PM

MOVIE SYNOPSIS: Actress Rose McIver (Once Upon a Time) will take over the role of Cathy Dollanganger while actor Wyatt Nash (Pretty Little Liars) will take over the role of Christopher Dollanganger in the small screen adaptation of the classic novel that picks up a decade after the conclusion of Flowers in the Attic. The cast returning for this second film include Heather Graham, Dylan Bruce and Ellen Burstyn.

Night Shift

May 27 – The new NBC summer series The Night Shift will debut at 10 PM

Show Synopsis: The series focuses on the men and women who work the overnight shift at San Antonio Memorial Hospital. They are an irreverent and special breed, particularly adrenaline junkie T.C. Callahan (Eoin Macken from Merlin). After three grueling tours of duty in Afghanistan, T.C. is about to learn that his toughest battles will be fought right here at home. He and his team of late-night docs, including best friend Topher (Ken Leung from Lost ) and protégé Drew (Brendan Fehr from Roswell), know how to let off steam with the casual prank or two, but when lives are at stake, they are all business. Unfortunately, the night shift is now under new senior management and boss Michael Ragosa (Freddy Rodriguez from Six Feet Under), who has to balance the real-world pressures of cutting costs while battling the stigma that he is more interested in saving money than helping people. The cast includes Jill Flint (Royal pains), Daniella Alonso (Revolution) and Jeananne Goossen (Alcatraz).

May 27 – A new season of The Haves and Have Nots will start on Oxygen at 9 PM

May 28 – The second season of the DirecTV drama Rogue will air at 10 PM

May 30 – The new NBC summer series Crossbones will debut at 10 PM

Show Synopsis: It’s 1715 on the Bahamian island of New Providence where the diabolical pirate Blackbeard (screen legend John Malkovich) reigns over a rogue nation of thieves, outlaws and miscreant sailors. Part shantytown and part marauder’s paradise, New Providence is a mounting threat to international commerce. To gain control of this fearsome society, assassin Tom Lowe is sent to the buccaneers’ haven to take down the brilliant and charismatic Blackbeard. But the closer Lowe gets, the more he finds that his quest is not so simple. The cast includes Richard Coyle (Covert Affairs), David Hoflin (Alcatraz and Touch) and Claire Foy (Upstairs/Downstairs).

May 31 – The Hallmark Movie Channel will debut the film The Color of Rain at 9 PM

MOVIE SYNOPSIS: Inspired by the true story of Gina Kell and Michael Spehn, the film follows both families as they become one after cancer tragically claims both Gina’s husband and Michael’s wife just six weeks apart. When young husband and father Matt Kell succumbs to a terminal cancer diagnosis on Christmas day 2005, his widow, Gina (Lacey Chabert from Party of Five and Mean Girls) and two young boys are left to cope with the pain of his loss while their close church community gathers around them for support. Wanting to be close to her kids, Gina starts to volunteer at their elementary school and meets the Spehn children, Jack, Danny and Charlotte. In a gut-wrenching coincidence, just weeks after Matt’s death, the Spehn’s mom, Cathy, is also suddenly taken by cancer, leaving her distraught husband, Michael (Warren Christie from Alphas and October Road), to care for their three kids on his own. Sensing the hopelessness in Michael she so recently saw in herself, Gina reaches out to Michael and his kids and the two families begin to forge an unlikely friendship. During the year that follows, their lives become intertwined as they learn to lean on each other during, at-times, insurmountable obstacles, tears and adversity. They begin to heal with laughter, compassion and faith. And, when Gina and Michael realize their newfound bond could be more than just friendship, they struggle against surprising resistance from their families and community to unite their two grieving families as one, and eventually learn to open their hearts to love again.

May 31 – The season finale of Da Vinci’s Demons will air on Starz at 9 PM
