COMMUNITY: Basic Story

By  |

The Save Greendale group has found itself in a contented lull, and Abed doesn’t like it. Everyone, save Abed, feels that there’s a calm afoot whereas Abed finds a storm’s brewing. Whatever will that mean for the group as they near the end of the year?

Two members of the school board come in and tell Dean Pelton that the school is being appraised tomorrow. That sets the Dean off, and so he comes to the Save Greendale group, ready for a crisis. Jeff’s trying to suggest that the group needs to get used to things being okay and relax.

While setting ready for the appraiser, there are discoveries in the Dean’s office: his mother’s wedding ring and potentially the fact that Jeff actually likes being at Greendale now. Abed, while trying to take in the calm freaks out. He misses meeting the appraiser, but that introduction only confuses the group.

Abed’s constant fighting of the non-story has him seeing bearded versions of himself.

The appraiser comes back with a positive value now, and that means that the city of Greendale now wants to sell the property and sell it for profit.

Saving Greendale, as the group has been working so hard for, is now going to separate them all from each other because Greendale will no longer be a school.

Why would the city ever want to take away this place where the people here do such strange things? Or where they didn’t care enough about making the school fit for sale until it was that or leave each other?

Now this is too much. Greendale is being replaced with a Subway? NBC really must love these sandwiches.

Annie has a plan to try and save the school, but it doesn’t go well. There’s no good way to raise awareness in a productive way, at least as far as Jeff knows.

As Dean Pelton starts to break down before the school is destroyed, Abed discovers a letter behind a photo of one of the older deans.

When Britta and Jeff take stock of what they’ve done at Greendale, it reminds them both about their times together and how that was the reason for the study group. But then Jeff asks to marry Britta and she says yes. Just as they are about to have sex on the study table, Abed, Annie and Craig all say that there is buried treasure on campus.

Too bad Chang is outside the room and overhears that. Just one more time for Chang to betray the group.

Duncan and Hickey are finding each other for the first time (really) and discover that they know the same place back in England. Where Hickey may or may not have slept with Duncan’s aunt at some point.

What does it all mean though? Is there actually treasure or is it some failed attempt to keep the group together again?
