MODERN FAMILY: Best Men Recap

By  |

This week we got a big dose of Elizabeth Banks and she was a great guest star as Cam and Mitchell’s best girlfriend Sal, from their partying days. I hope they bring her back for a few more episodes. Let’s get to it!

Sal (Elizabeth Banks) stops by to tell Cam and Mitchell she is getting married and she wants them to be her best men! Yay! And the wedding is in a week (wow, she moves fast).

Claire is excited because Haley complimented her on her new boots and then told her she was right about a girl in her class. She thinks Haley is starting to like her again (after the “I hate Mom” teenage phase) so she asked her out to dinner and she accepted. When they drop Alex off at her band performance (that they both did not want to stay and watch), Haley bumps into a friend and ditches Claire to go out with her. Claire decided to stay and watch Alex.

Jay and Gloria went to a parent teacher conference because Manny has been fascinated with the female body in art class. All of his artwork is breast related. Jay thinks it is because Gloria breast feeds in the open in front of everyone (apparently Phil almost ate a candle when he witnessed it). Jay wants her to cover those puppies up. Actually Manny has a crush on Dahlia, (the new nanny that Gloria did not want to hire), and she was the inspiration to his work.

Mitchell and Cam go out with Sal a couple hours before the wedding and tell her how fun it will be to do couple things together like play board games and go to the movies. She freaked out a little bit and made out with the bartender. She starts to rethink getting married and Mitchell tries to tell her that it is normal to have a panic attack before the wedding. Then she makes out with the bartender again and thought maybe he was the one for her. Wow! She is a piece of work!

Luke is crushing on a girl but doesn’t know how to talk to her. Phil chats with her (as Luke) on Facebook and gets him a date. When Luke shows up, he is so nervous he can barely get his own name out. Phil encourages him to be himself and he goes to the bar to wait for him. The mother of Luke’s date sits next to him at the bar and they start talking. They figure out that they were typing to each other on Facebook because the kids were so nervous. Phil makes a joke that it was like they are on a date and that opened the door for her to start flirting. She was all over Phil and he made sure to mention that he was happily married.

Manny encourages Jay and Gloria to go out so he can have some alone time with Dahlia. He makes a candlelight dinner for her and put a poem about her on the back of the menu. So sweet! Jay and Gloria come home after they figured out that Dahlia was Manny’s muse. Gloria starts to yell at her, when Dahlia says to give her and Manny a minute. She let him down easy and said that she was unlucky because she was born too soon and any woman who ended up with him would be very lucky. Aw! Manny was still hurt and ran upstairs. Gloria apologized for yelling at her and started to like Dahlia after seeing how nice she was to Manny.

Cam is frustrated because Sal has the right to get married and isn’t taking the vows seriously. Cam and Mitch have been building a life together for 10 years and aren’t able to legally get married. Mitch tells Cam to hold it together and get through the ceremony. During the ceremony Sal takes one look at Tony (her fiancée) and realizes that she wants to marry him. She talked about how much Cam and Mitchell loved one another and Cam got choked up. Right before they say their “I do’s”, Tony admits that he made out with a stripper the night before and she came clean about the bartender. They are both relieved and get married. Clearly they are right for each other.

Haley felt bad about ditching Claire so she came back and watched Alex’s band with her. They both were shocked that they were good (and not classical) and Alex sang! Who knew? They were so proud of her! They invited her to have dinner with them, but she ditched them for the band. Haley was surprised but got a little taste of her own medicine.
