BREAKING IN Recap: The office party and the sandwich girl

By  |

Well folks, this is the first episode of the truly new Breaking In. There was a new opening sequence that includes Veronica and Molly and no mention of Melanie.
Let’s get started shall we?

Cameron is in the van talking to Cash on an ear piece. He is trying to help Cash ask out the sandwich girl. Cash can’t do it, he has no game.

1:22PM
The office is sitting around eating sushi. Crazy Carol is practically mainlining Wasabi, calling it Japanese Guac. She can’t taste it though because she lost all of her taste buds at Vassar.
Enter Veronica with a bad, “What’s Happening, Rog?” impression. The office quiets.
They tell her Jones sent sushi and she is curious which one of them is Jones. Oz says Jones is in Tokyo. He is their international Sales Rep and a legend in the security business.
The gang says he has done everything from throw the greatest Christmas party ever to hooking up Cash with VIP seas at Medieval Times.
Nerd Boy says he is generous because he pulls in the biggest paycheck in the office. Molly is instantly curious. Why do his checks come into the office if he is in Tokyo? Nerd Boy just gives them to Oz, he doesn’t ask questions.

Oz proposes a toast to Jones…who makes things fun. Veronica pipes up that she can be fun too. She tells the office to all put their names in the bowl on the table and whomevers name is drawn gets a free lunch anywhere in the city. They cheer until she throws in the last part, lunch is with here.

2:37PM
Molly is certain there is no Jones, she thinks Oz is just pocketing his paychecks. Veronica is not really listening to Molly though. She is looking at the still empty bowl on the table. She remarks that even the chunky receptionist didn’t put her name in…the receptionist is actually pregnant and can hear her.
Veronica addresses the office to make sure they get their names in that bowl. No one steps up and she is obviously saddened. Cameron notices and, trying to be a good guy, puts his name in. Veronica could not be more excited.

Oz is watching Cash lust after the sandwich girl…but he can’t just say hi. Cash has only ever talked to Comic-Con girls with unreasonably low standards.

Molly comes over to confront Oz. She knows Jones isn’t real and what Oz is doing is illegal. It must stop. Oz says he will get Jones on the phone and they can work it all out.
Molly accepts this and walks away. Leaving Oz to tell Cash there is no Jones. It is in fact Oz and he has a plan to convince Molly that Jones is real.

Oz and Molly are sitting in the conference room making a call to Jones. Cash is in the other room using a voice modifier and pretending he is Jones. It is going fine until Cash sees an Indiana Jones fedora on the desk and starts talking to Molly about how he is searching for artifacts with his buddy Short Round. Oz tries to steer the conversation back around but Cash keeps talking about dabbling in archeology and having doctorate degrees. Oz cuts him off with a, “Sayonara Dr. Jones.” and hangs up the call.

Cash walks into the conference room sad he missed Jones. He wanted to say Hi. Molly leaves but Oz is mad at Cash. Dr. Jones? Really?

Veronica and Cameron are at Fannanegins…a Bennigans of sorts. They wait staff is singing happy birthday and Veronica is thrilled. Cameron looks mortified.
She says she knows he isn’t having a good time and wants to know why no one put their name in the bowl. He says it’s because she has to get to know them first. Veronica insists she does know them. Cameron asks what his last name is. Diaz? Cameron Diaz. Then she tries again with Pameron. Cameron Pameron.
Before anything else can be said the wait staff comes out again with another 15 scoop ice cream sundae singing happy graduation. Cameron just stares at the clapping Veronica.

12:23PM
Again the office is standing around eating. Oz can’t believe Jones sent truffles. Molly says she was video chatting with Jones and telling him how homesick she was so he sent truffles. Oz is pretty confused. Molly says she and Jones are becoming good friends. She tells him about missing her Mom and he tells her about his search for the Staff of Rah. Oz quips that he hopes Jones finds the staff because he knows exactly where he is going to put it.
Oz tracks down Cash and confronts him. Cash cooked up a motion capture technology. It’s Cash in a green screen mask and gloves that Molly sees in the video chat as a white guy, played by Sean Patrick Flannery, whom I adore.  I mean the man was in The Boondock Saints!
Oz is not amused though and tells Cash to shut it down in a sexy yet scary manner. I’m sure Cash was just scared and the sexy was all in my head.

At Veronica’s insistence Cameron gives her cheat sheets on the employee’s. It only has names and hometowns on it though. She wants the good stuff. He’s a hacker, he can find there deep dark secrets so she can use them to make them like her.
A moment later she sends out an invitation for a party. Contra Securities karaoke, luau, fondue, murder mystery, cirque du so game night, comedy roast.
By the end of the night she will be covered in friends! Except everyone RSVP’s no so she makes the party mandatory.

At the party Crazy Carol and Veronica are doing karaoke when Cameron shows up as Sherlock Holmes. I’m guessing his the murder mystery part of the party. He reads cards stating there is a dead body in the alley. Veronica starts a conga line to go see the body. Absolutely no one is having any fun.
This leaves only Cash and sandwich girl in the office. Cash tries to talk to her, loses his mind, says, “Temple of Doom” and runs off. He puts on his green mask and video calls Molly. He needs her help with a girl. Molly is excited to help him.
However Cash looks up to see Oz standing menacingly behind the laptop his hands on the table. I will spare you all the inappropriate stream of thoughts that came to mind involving Christian Slater and that table. Too much?
Cash gets freaked says bye and Oz slams the laptop shut. “Jones has just been fired.” Cash argues that he needs him. They start a back and forth.
Jones was caught selling secrets to a rival firm, Jones was a double agent really working for Contra. Jones was hit by a train, had only minor injuries. This goes on and on until Jones has a heart transplant with a baboon heart but then chokes on a banana and his ashes are spread over an active volcano.
Molly bursts into the room and calls them fraudulent frauds. Oz wants to know if she is going to turn them in. She is going to wait until the end of Veronica’s party. She doesn’t want to make it into a spectacle.
Too late…Veronica is in a coconut bra and a grass skirt over her clothes. She is using Cameron’s “trivia” to start the office roast.
“We have a lot of food here tonight, speaking of food, Ricky has crabs.” Bobby is the king of accounting and DUI’s and it goes downhill from there; The carpet does not match the drapes. He has a sock under his bed named Jennifer, she turned him gay.
No one is taking this well, obviously, so Veronica points to Cameron, still dressed as Sherlock Holmes, and says Cameron gave her the information.

The next morning Cameron is eating breakfast in the kitchen at work. Cash pulls a sign off his back that reads, “I heart balls.” Cameron is pretty sure that is the least offensive thing he has hearted all day. Cash has his own problems. He is now an accomplice to fraud and tax evasion.

Molly is in Veronica’s office telling on Oz. He is sitting there listening to the accusations but Veronica is not. She just cannot believe no one likes her and after she threw a party for them.
Molly has had enough and says she is leaving this up to Veronica, she is the boss. Veronica stops Oz from trying to sneak out the door.
She wants to know if he likes her. Oz says it really doesn’t matter, he works for her. She says it matters to her. Oz pauses a moment and lets her in on a little secret. He created Jones so that he could be these peoples friend and their boss, because without Jones he couldn’t be both. She still wants to know if he likes her and he says she is growing on him.
I have to agree with him here. Since I loved the show in its first form I thought she was a little much at first, but her character is growing on me.

Cameron is trying to fix his status as leper in the office. He is just about to roast himself when Veronica cuts him off. She says it was Jones that told her all of the gossip. She didn’t want to tell them because they all love Jones. Molly isn’t happy but the rest of the office seems to be okay.
Veronica asks Cameron if they are good and he says yes. He even offers to take her to lunch at Fananigans. She declines but appreciates the offer.

We end with Cash looking longingly at the sandwich girl. He tries to talk to Molly who is still not over their deception. He even apologies. He didn’t do it to mess with her. Cash says his problem with a girl was a real problem, her name isn’t Marion though it’s Phoebe. Molly turns around, she has work to do.
Cash sulks back to his desk. Molly looks over at him and relents. She IM’s him, “Hey Jones” and proceeds to tell him he is better with women then he thinks.
This is all the encouragement Cash needed. He grabs his fedora and leather jacks and runs towards sandwich girl while the Indiana Jones theme song plays. It’s a slow motion obstacle course threw the office. He lasso’s a mail cart with a computer mouse cord, and dodges Nerf bullets being shot at him from others in the office. He even does a great slide under the closing garage door only to get his arm caught under it while trying to grab his hat.
After a moment Molly is there opening the door off his arm and helping to get him first aid. She says he will get sandwich girl next time.
