Good Witch Recap: “Til Death Us Do Part”

By  |

A new episode of Good Witch aired on the Hallmark Channel last night.

As Abigail and Phil get to know each other by touring Middleton, Sam is called out of the country to help with an emergency in South America with an aid organization he volunteered with in the past. Also Grace, after being asked to help update the town’s website, learned a surprising fact about Martha’s family’s legacy.

Abigail and Phil

Last week introduced new Grey House guest Phil, the inventor of a new dating website. To say the least, he and Abigail didn’t hit it off well, but that all changed this week with Abigail giving Phil a grand tour of Middleton, showing him all the sites and uniqueness of the quaint, small town. In the end, Phil decided to buy the Old Mill with plans to turn it into his headquarters. Oh yeah, there was that kiss shared between the two, too. This could be the beginning of something special for Abigail; even Grace noticed a difference in her cousin. She was

Sam

First of all, Sam got injured trying to help his good friend Liam fix some loose shingles on the roof of his house; and then he was called out of town by an aid organization, located in South America, who he had volunteered with in the past. They needed his help because of injuries sustained by locals during a horrible storm.

Naturally, Cassie was worried about Sam after his fall [thankfully he wasn’t too badly injured] and now with him going into a potentially dangerous situation, Cassie was even more worried. In fact, as the episode progressed, it became clear that Cassie’s past was haunting her a bit. She always worried about her first husband Jake, the town sheriff, each time he put on his jacket and went to work; and she was having the same feeling of concern over Sam.

Grace and Martha

Martha Tinsdale was on another mission (par for the course for the town’s mayor), wanting to give the town’s website a much-needed makeover. Cassie suggested that Grace could probably help out; and once Martha revealed there was no budget to have one of the town’s employees do the update, Grace volunteered to help.

Grace’s main focus became the legend of Martha’s great-grandfather, who saved a family from a hotel fire in 1922. But as Grace investigated the legend, she learned that Martha’s ancestor wasn’t actually in town the night of the fire; it was actually Martha’s great-grandmother who came to the rescue, but because she was the only woman at an illegal poker game at the now defunct and non-existent hotel, the truth had to be altered.

Nick

Throughout the episode, it became clear that Nick was putting off his college applications. Was it just laziness or was there something else going on? It would seem that Nick wasn’t really sure what he wanted to do with his life; but it became clear to Cassie that Nick is very much like his dad: he likes helping people; and by the end of the episode Nick completed all of his college apps. Sam even joked that maybe he should leave town more often, leaving Cassie in charge.

Setting the Date

Cassie has been hesitant about making wedding plans for quite a while now, but once Sam returned home from Columbia, she told him she decided on a date for their nuptials: 3 weeks away. No pressure there, right?

What are your thoughts on the episode? Are you happy to see Abigail and Phil together? Are you pleased that Cassie has finally picked a date for the wedding? What do you think of the season so far? Please share your thoughts

The next new episode of Good Witch will air on Hallmark Channel on Sunday, June 17 at 9/8c.
