Blindspot Roundtable: Everlasting
This episode gave us a look into the brilliant mind of Patterson. Even while fighting for her life, she still was solving cases. What were your thoughts?
Roz: Patterson is always one of my favorite characters and watching an episode that was all about her was great – especially as it connects this season to one’s past.
Leah: Patterson is the best. This just proves it. It was odd but a good way to see inside her mind.
Rueben: Only Patterson could do a Groundhog Day-like scenario while in a coma. She was just phenomenal in this episode. Yes, each reset was a little crazier and a little scarier than the next, but she was able to keep her wits about her, figuring out all the clues as they came to her.
Lisa: Yes! I loved this episode and Rueben Groundhog day was a perfect way to describe it. Patterson rocks and I really enjoyed seeing this episode in the this style. It kept me on the edge of my seat.
It was great seeing Patterson confront some of the people from her past, especially David. What did you think about these interactions?
Roz: It took me a few minutes to get the feel for why all of these guys were back from the past, but after a few times, it was great to see that these men were an integral part of her life – good or bad.
Leah: I loved the way they helped her. I miss the David character too so it was nice to see him.
Rueben: As soon as they showed David the first time, I knew there was way more going on than her just having a Groundhog Day-like “dream.” It was great to see David, again. I didn’t realize how much I missed him until they showed him. I think her interactions with him actually helped her and maybe she’ll finally be able to move on with her life and forgive herself.
Lisa: I agree Rueben. I definitely think seeing David again gave her some closure. I miss him! I hope they have more flashbacks or dreams with him in the future. Also, seeing her realize that she had to confront in order to have a future was a great and relatable lesson.
Borden is alive! That was a shock. Did you see that coming?
Roz: No, I didn’t see it coming and I want him GONE! He’s not going to do anything good for the season.
Leah: What Roz said!
Rueben: Oh hell no, I did NOT see that coming until she said something to Zapata about thinking he might be alive. I just about flipped out when they showed him in that end clip. This is just TOO much!!
Lisa: OMG! I totally didn’t see it coming and like Rueben I flipped out(I’m sure my neighbors think I’m crazy because I yelled NO!!!! at the TV). He has to go now. How the hell is he alive?
There was a lot going on in Patterson’s mind. What was your favorite flashback scene?
Roz: I don’t know if I had a favorite, but I loved the use of the loud music at the start of each day and how much worse it got.
Leah: I like the Breakfast Club incarnation.
Rueben: I agree with Leah! The Breakfast Club dream was just priceless. I couldn’t get over how well Jaimie did being Ally Sheedy with the wig and the mannerisms. Plus, it was quite funny to see Roman as Judd Nelson’s character too.
Lisa: Me too! Weller in a Letterman jacket was pretty funny. They did so well with The Breakfast club scene. I also thought the elevator scene with a naked Roman was pretty hot and unexpected.
David, Patterson and Jack on a therapy couch with Borden. Discuss.
Roz: Awk. Ward. That’s all I got.
Leah: Yeah, That was…a lot!
Rueben: It was a bit trippy, wasn’t it? Having Borden right there asking questions too made it all the more unsettling.
Lisa: Wow! Bravo to the writers who came up with that scenario because that is something no one saw coming even in a dream. So strange.
Should Tasha share her true feelings with Reade like Patterson suggested? Or should she leave it alone and be his best man?
Roz: I think with Meg’s situation, Tasha should just let it go, but I don’t know if she can given their history.
Leah: She missed her chance and she is keeping some serious secrets so….she needs to let it go.
Rueben: Yeah, I think she really missed her chance, and to speak up now would just make things all the more awkward and complicated. I think she just needs to let it go too.
Lisa: I think she’s waited too long and risks ruining their friendship if she says something now, but I think she is going to blow it. I think she is going to tell him.
MVP?
Roz: Is there any other choice than Patterson?
Leah: Again….what Roz said.
Rueben: Without question, it’s Patterson all the way.
Lisa: Hands down. Patterson.
Additional comments or predictions?
Roz: That swap of Jane and Kurt had me laughing too much. But why wasn’t he Joe and not Jane?
