CONVICTION: Team Building in Times of Crisis, Teams Collapse Too {Recap}

By  |

Conviction finally gives the audience (and CIU) a case that isn’t so easy to solve, or at least one where the convicted felon isn’t freed.

This week we met Penny Price (Guest Star Teri Polo), stay at home mom to a special needs child. She was convicted of her son’s death, but she’s innocent (though she chooses to stay in jail to save her daughter from going to jail for killing her brother).

All of that effort into finding Penny not guilty finally brings the CIU closer together, but Hayes Morrison’s (Hayley Atwell) cocaine charge threatens to destroy her relationship with both her brother Jackson (Daniel Franzese) and also her relationship with Connor Wallace (Eddie Cahill).

Team Building

In the wake of Hayes’ arrest coming to light for the whole public, she dives head first into the case of Penny. As she works tirelessly for the truth, the team seems to rally behind her, making a concerted effort to uncover exactly what happened.

Maybe it’s the details of the case – and the murder of a child – but the results are the same. The CIU feels like a unit by the end, and even if they have differences, they work towards an answer in the case.

The case also gave the audience a look into different team dynamics. Hayes works with Tess, Maxine and Sam during the episode as she works to figure out the final answer to the case.

Teamwork got Hayes and Maxine here to finally solve the case, the crux resting on the young girl and her insulin.

Team Collapses

Hayes must go on damage control after the world finds out how she got the job at CIU. Jackson works tirelessly to get her an interview to talk about her position in the CIU and how she’s apologetic about the situation where she was arrested. However, Hayes can’t stay quiet and docile when it comes to what happened to her and she lets out some truths about privilege and positions of power that causes Jackson to kick her out of their shared apartment.

Jackson isn't the only one who suffer from the news of Hayes' arrest. Conner believes that a Department of Justice investigation will follow the news that he gave Hayes this job in exchange for erasing the arrest.

Which of those two relationships will suffer the most? Only time will tell.

Conviction airs Mondays at 10PM on ABC. Come back each week as Roz recaps the episodes.

Roz lives in the Los Angeles area, and has been a long time California girl. Despite her better judgment, she enjoys shows about the shallow sides of her home city, but will also find time to watch iZombie, Jane the Virgin, and much more.
