4th of July: Couples Who Made Us See Fireworks

There are couples we love and couples we hate and some we can’t help but love despite ourselves. In celebration of the 4th of July we thought we would share the couples who made us see fireworks. Look through the gallery below and then let us know who you got starry eyed over.

- Castle and Beckett (Caskett) from Castle. Regardless of the behind the scenes drama between the actors, the characters were destined to be together from the first time they met even if Beckett never thought that would be the case. They were an amazing team both in life and in work, solving nearly 200 cases together, saving each other lives over and over again and slowly falling madly in love. Even when they were arguing or were (albeit temporary) split, they were the couple we all wanted to see end up together forever.

- Chuck and Sara from Chuck. Much like Castle and Beckett, Chuck was crazy about Sarah way before she ever felt anything for him; but fans always wanted to see them become a couple. From their very first kiss (when they thought they were both going to die) to Chuck seeing Sarah dressed as Princess Leia to her eventually walking down the aisle to marry him, they had such incredible chemistry.

- Shaw and Root from Person of Interest. Explosive? Try Gun-toting craziness packed into two amazingly hot BAMFs! They never actually gave in to their attraction to each other, unless you count the numerous in-her-head simulations that Shaw was forced to live through by Samaritan and one blazing hot kiss shared before Shaw’s apparent “death” in season four, but when they were fighting side-by-side, the tension was palpable. The aforementioned scenario scene was a SCORCHER, so if they had been a couple in real life (well, on the show at least), they would’ve been amazing.

- Leslie and Ben from Parks & Recreation. A classic case of sandpaper turned silk. Leslie called him “Mean Ben” and clashed with him over budget issues when he arrived in Pawnee, but they bonded during the setup of the Harvest Festival. Their tension ramped up during a road trip, although they were blocked by Chris Traeger – but when they arrived back in town, Ben stopped viewers hearts with an unexpected kiss. Their love affair had ups and downs through her run for City Councillor, but when they reconnected, they were together forever. They love each other, and they like each other, and they made us do it as well.

- Sydney and Vaughn from Alias. From the moment she walked into the CIA Vaughn was smitten. It took multiple agencies, faked deaths, lost memories and a marriage to someone else before they got their happy ending.

- Tulip and Jesse from Preacher. Yes, they’re exes, but their relationship is definitely still very combustible. If you know anything about the comic book, you know there’s a lot more to come from these two – and if you don’t, you can probably guess. They may not have a romantic thing, but sometimes that’s not what it takes to make fireworks.

- Erin and Jay from Chicago PD. Ever since Day One, there’s been no doubt that there was chemistry between Chicago P.D. partners Erin Lindsay and Jay Halstead, but it was a slow burn build up with Lindsay and Halstead – or as fans like to call them “Linstead” – not even hooking up until midway through season two. It was worth the wait though! But before fans could get too excited, Lindsay put the brakes on their secret relationship a few episodes later. Yet even when they’re not together, there’s no denying the chemistry between these two (hello, have you seen how much emotion these two can convey with a simple look?!) and thankfully the pair finally got their act together in season three and were still happily together by the season’s end and will no doubt be stronger together when the show returns for season four. These two set off fireworks in my eyes not just because they’re lovers, have amazing chemistry, but also the fact that they truly are partners and are best friends.

- Jim and Pam from The Office. They shared a forbidden kiss while she was still engaged to another man, and she rebuffed him – RIGHTLY SO. But from then on – we knew it was inevitable that these kids were meant to be. Jim loved her from day one, and Pam fell gradually for his goofy charm. He supported her when she was lost, and she was his partner in crime when he pulled office pranks on their co-workers. They made a great team, and lasted through the entire series.

- Wynonna and Doc from Wynonna Earp. They may never be a couple in the traditional sense but Doc is always there for Wynonna and their chemistry is sit a little closer to the TV, turn on the fan and don’t even breath amazing

- Buffy Summers and Spike from Buffy the Vampire Slayer. Sparks flew between the two of them from the moment Spike and his erstwhile partner Juliet crashed into Sunnydale in season 2. Buffy had other things – and undead broody men – on her mind at the time, but the chemistry was hard to ignore. They sizzled and smoldered until finally coming together with a literal bang in a scorching hot, house leveling scene at the end of season 6 episode 9, “Smashed”.

- Logan and Veronica from Veronica Mars. When we first met them, they hated each other. And then they didn’t. And then they did. That’s the romantic comedy version, but it was clear when Logan or Veronica were snarking at the other that there was something else simmering. And then, in one momentary thing, they set off fireworks for each other, ever changing their roads. Spanning years and continents, check. Lives ruined, check. Bloodshed, check. Epic, that’s for sure.
