THE VAMPIRE DIARIES: I’LL WED YOU IN THE GOLDEN SUMMERTIME {RECAP}

This season is coming to an end and there is a whole lot going on! Mama Salvatore is free, Jo and Alaric’s wedding, Stefan and Caroline! So much to resolve and there is only one more episode of the season! Ah! Let’s get down to it.

It’s Alaric and Jo’s wedding day and she was freaking out because things were not going her way. She couldn’t find her shoes and her wedding coordinator had the flu. Bonnie and Elena tried to keep her calm until Caroline showed up to save the day. If anyone can coordinate a wedding in one day, it’s Caroline! It’s so good to see her back to her old cute control freak self.

Stefan kidnapped Damon to show him how life as a human would be with neighbors, kids, frozen dinners, paperwork etc. He took him to a house he used to stay in whenever he wanted to start a new life. Surprisingly Damon wasn’t fazed because he had thought it all out. So Stefan pushed his buttons by showing him what would happen if Damon and Elena drifted apart and how he would regret being human. Then he really pushed his point by showing Damon what his human life would be like if Elena died. Sad and lonely. Damon needs to stay a vampire and that is all!

Mama Salvatore is still locked up in the basement and crazy as ever. She wants her creepy vampire witch family back. Bonnie was going to give her an MP3 player that Enzo brought for her but she attacked Bonnie through the bars of her cell!

Caroline made her rounds apologizing to Elena and Tyler for trying to kill them while her humanity switch was turned off. Speaking of apologies, Liv showed up (with a super cute new haircut) for the wedding and saw Tyler. There was still tension there. She was mad at him for leaving her and he was mad at her for trying to kill herself. You know, typical witchy stuff.

Jo reminded Elena that she was human now and drinking 4 glasses of champagne might not be a good idea. She went to make some coffee for Elena when she felt some pain, passed out and hit her head on the piano. Elena took her to the hospital and she was fine and the babies were fine. What a relief! It was just a panic attack. Not what you want to happen to on your wedding day.

Matt and Bonnie went to the basement to knock out Mama Salvatore while everyone was at the wedding, but they found an empty cell. To make matters worse, Matt started choking like someone was strangling him, and then the same thing happened to Bonnie. They both fell to the ground gasping for air.

Mama Salvatore saw Enzo at the diner and thanked him for the MP3 player (even though she didn’t know what it was). He asked her if he should be worried about her having a ripper spree and she said no. The only reason she ever became a ripper was to get her family back and she said she was getting her family back today. Oh lord! I hope that isn’t true. Keep the creepy vamp witches in the prison with crazy Kai please! That would too easy.

Caroline’s biggest apology was to Stefan (who she was avoiding). She finally talked to him and he forgave her for making him turn off his humanity switch. He told her that he knew it was hard for her to give up control but that is what happens when you fall for someone. She told him that where she was in her life, control was all she had and she wasn’t ready to give it up and then she walked away. I yelled “NO!!” at the TV along with every other Steroline fan at this moment.

Damon showed up to the wedding (looking super hot in his suit) and told Elena that he made up his mind. After seeing an elderly couple still obviously in love with each other, he was convinced. He was going to take the cure. He told Elena that being a vampire was a blast but he’d give it up in a second to be her husband and the father of her kids. He said to her “the smallest chance at the perfect life with you is infinitely better than the moral one without you. I know this Elena because I love you.” OMG! That was so sweet but I don’t want Damon to be human! I have such conflicted feelings! Wine please!

Matt and Bonnie woke up in the basement. Matt went to Bonnie and asked if she was alright, but it seemed like she didn’t know who he was or she didn’t know who she was. Either way, it was creepy and she was completely disoriented. Obviously Mama Salvatore’s handy work.

Damon and Elena were too busy getting it on and almost missed the start of the wedding (and Caroline was furious of course). They walked down the aisle, followed by a stunning Jo and her father. Alaric said his beautiful vows to Jo. Just as she was beginning her vows she started choking and there was blood on her stomach like she’d been stabbed. Then surprise! Crazy Kai appeared over her shoulder. He hit everyone with an ear piercing sound and said, “Miss me?” Damn he is crazy but sure knows how to make an entrance. Jo was on the floor in Alaric’s arms. Then Kai started breaking stuff with the flick of his hand and Elena got hit with glass and was knocked out on the floor. NOOO! She can’t go out like that! Knowing that Nina Dobrev is leaving the show makes me so nervous about the season finale. I seriously teared up at the trailer for next week’s episode. Deep breath peeps becasue it is going to be a tough one.

Quote of the night – Damon to Elena “Isn’t a bridesmaid’s dress supposed to make you look like a freak of nature?” I loved this line because a lot of the time they do! If I ever get married, my bridesmaids will be looking hot (just not hotter than me of course J ).
