PERSON OF INTEREST: Amy Acker and Greg Plageman at New York Comic Con {Video}
Person of Interest films in New York and we were treated to both a panel and a press room at New York Comic Con two weeks ago. You can see my report of the panel here. Jim Caviezel attended the panel, but not the press room, so we got to talk with Amy Acker (Root), Michael Emerson (Finch), Kevin Chapman (Fusco), and Executive Producer Greg Plageman.
The cast and creators of POI are all extremely entertaining and the POI press rooms are always a good time.
Some highlights of our conversation with Acker and Plageman (warning: potential spoilers):
- They both assured us that Root now cares about the common good, and not just about the Machine, but she’s going to start to question her mission (the first point was clearly in evidence in episode 5, with some foreshadowing of the 2nd)
- The creators know what the ending of the show is, but there are plenty of stories to tell before they get there
- There will be two wars going on this season – the war between Dominic, the team, and Elias, and also between the Machine and Samaritan
- Acker jokes that playing Root helps her home life because she gets to take out her aggressions by killing people in many ways
- Plageman is amused that the audience likes Root so much, despite the fact that she was first introduced as a paid assassin
- Acker and Sarah Shahi (Shaw) have a great time with their scenes
- The writer’s were initially really resistant to destroy the library last season, but it was necessary to the plot. The new hideout is modeled after actual “forgotten” railway stations below New York City, particularly the one beneath city hall.
