THE GOOD WIFE – 5.15 ‘Dramatics, Your Honor’ Will Breaks Our Hearts

By  |

TGW514_AliciaWill is battling a murder wrap for his client and Alicia is feeling all warm and fuzzie about her decision to leave Lockhart/Gardner. Cary kills her good vibes upon revealing his relationship with Kalinda. When Nelson Dubek arrives, her good mood takes a nosedive. Nelson advises Ms. Florrick to come in for  voluntary deposition, which when taken at face value is insane.  Alicia contrives with Eli to circumvent Nelson by going to the deposition in a mission to find out what he has on Peter.

Meanwhile back at court, Will is arguing his case base on “Touch DNA.” When the evidence Kalinda digs up gets soundly trounced, everyone else is beginning to feel their client is indeed guilty and maybe this would be a good time to cut losses.

Jeffery Grant’s parents are feeling a bit nervous regarding Will’s defense and make a call to Florrick / Agos.  Alica turns them down and in a calculated move arrives at court to give Will the skinny while hopefully strengthening Will’s resolve.

Deposition time! Nelson is a big fat Potato Head! Not only does he have Alicia “observed” aka “followed”, he also confronts her on her relationship with Will. Alicia proves her true mettle when she responds to Mr. Dubeck’s actions with class while at the same time slicing him to the bone. She needs a cape to go with those superpowers!

TGW515_KalindaKalinda finally gets a free moment with Will and once again, she wants to leave. The two share a very poignant moment. Later we discover how bittersweet that time would prove to be.
Will hangs tough and in pure Gardner style delivers a truly ingenious argument. As the two lawyers argue a fine point before the judge the camera focuses intently on the defendant Jeffery Grant who is quietly freaking out. This looks bad. Very bad.

The camera  pans away to Diane and then Kalinda in separate court rooms and we hear four noises. Bang…..bang, bang…..BANG! Oh I had a awful feeling, and yes, it is as bad as it seems. Will is dead. I repeat. Oh my freaking GAWD! Will is dead!

This episode was touted to hold one heck of a shocker and boy did they deliver! ‘The Good Wife’ is a shining example of first rate TV. I bow to their genius and bravery. It is moments like this that keep us coming back for more. I am heartbroken, but grateful all the same. It was said that Josh Charles (Will) was looking to leave and they wrote him out in spectacular style. Bravo, Josh! Bravo!

TGW515_AlanObservations:
• I love the shot of Eli’s face when he heard the news. That hurt so much more.
• Will’s shoe. Who knew once image could tell so much?
• Alicia’s hair flip when she takes down Nelson was impressive. I should gif that! (Thanks Elsbeth!)
• After seeing all those illegal ballet boxes’ on video, I’m betting Alicia kills Peter in his sleep.
