March TV Calendar

The following list provides the dates of the returning cable and major network dramas and some new cable dramas and mini-series that will air during March:

March 2 – The Academy Awards will be presented on ABC at 8:30 PM

March 3 – The FX drama Bates Motel will return for its second season at 9 PM

March 3 – Almost Human will air its season finale on FOX at 8 PM

March 3 – The new A&E drama Those Who Kill will debut at 10 PM

Show Synopsis: Based on the Danish crime series, the drama follows Catherine Jensen (Chloë Sevigny from Big Love) as a recently promoted homicide detective who tracks down serial killers and relentlessly seeks the truth behind the disappearance of her brother. James D’Arcy (Secret Diary of a Call Girl) also stars.

March 6 – Once Upon a Time in Wonderland will be back with the rest of its freshman season on ABC at 8 PM

March 6 – Suits will air its mid-season premiere on the USA Network at 9 PM

March 8 – The Lifetime movie The Trip to Bountiful will air at 8 PM

MOVIE SYNOPSIS: Carrie Watts (Cicely Tyson) begrudgingly lives with her busy, overprotective son, Ludie (Blair Underwood) and pretentious daughter-in-law, Jessie Mae (Vanessa Williams). No longer able to drive and forbidden to travel alone, she wishes for freedom from the confines of the house and begs her son to take her on a visit to her hometown of Bountiful. When he refuses, Mrs. Watts is undeterred and makes an escape to the local bus station, where she befriends Thelma (Keke Palmer), a young woman traveling home. When Ludie and Jessie Mae discover she is gone, they call in law enforcement to help, but Mrs. Watts is one step ahead of them and convinces the local sheriff to help her on her journey home to Bountiful.

March 8 – The Hallmark Channel movie A Ring By Spring will debut at 7 PM

MOVIE SYNOPSIS: Business consultant Caryn Briggs (Rachel Boston from Witches of East End) is still single at 30, but is in no rush to wed. She’s always been skeptical about marriage, thinking the commitment would mean throwing away her future. She has let a string of steady boyfriends get away in favor of her own freedom. When she attends a fundraising event with friends Gregg (Chad Krowchuk from Man of Steel) and Stephanie (Ali Liebert from Tom, Dick & Harriet), she playfully agrees to have her fortune read at a charity booth run by soothsayer Madame Rue (Stefanie Powers), who ominously predicts Caryn will have an engagement ring by spring or she’ll never marry. Caryn doesn’t give much thought to Madame Rue’s fortune as she starts a new job with friendly, laid-back boss Tom Halsey (Kirby Morrow), with whom she has a lot in common. But when Stephanie and Gregg’s fortunes come true, Caryn worries she might be closer to a ring than she thought, from her uptight boyfriend, Bryce (Chris Jacot from Eureka). With Caryn suddenly very nervous about an impending proposal, Bryce shocks her when he breaks up with her instead, claiming she isn’t marriage material. Finally faced with the truth, Caryn must admit to herself she needs to get over her fear of lifelong commitment.

March 9 – The Good Wife and The Mentalist will both be back with new episodes on CBS at 9 and 10 PM respectively

March 9 – The night will start out on ABC with the special recap Once Upon a Time: Wicked is Coming at 7 PM followed by the return of Once Upon a Time from its extended winter hiatus at 8 PM. Then the new ABC drama Resurrection will debut at 9 PM followed by the return of Revenge from its winter hiatus, moving to its new timeslot of 10 PM

Show Synopsis (Resurrection): The people of Arcadia, Missouri are forever changed when their deceased loved ones suddenly start to reappear. An 8-year-old American boy (Landon Gimenez) wakes up alone in a rice paddy in a rural Chinese province with no idea how he got there. Details start to emerge when the boy, who calls himself Jacob, recalls that his hometown is Arcadia, and an Immigration agent, J. Martin Bellamy (Omar Epps from House), takes him there. The home he claims as his own is occupied by an elderly couple, Henry (Kurtwood Smith from That 70’s Show) and Lucille Langston (Frances Fisher from Eureka), who lost their son, Jacob, more than 30 years ago. While they look different, young Jacob recognizes them as his parents. Those closest to the family try to unravel this impossible mystery, including Sheriff Fred Langston (Matt Craven from NCIS), whose wife Barbara, drowned 30 years ago while trying to save Jacob. But this boy, who claims to be the deceased Jacob, knows secrets about his own death that no one else knows — secrets that Fred’s daughter, Maggie Langston (Devin Kelly from The Chicago Code), will begin to investigate and discover to be true. The cast also includes Samaire Armstrong (The O.C.) and Mark Hildreth (V).

March 10 – Bones will move back to Monday nights on FOX at 8 PM

March 10 – The final episode of Beauty And the Beast will air on The CW at 9 PM, as the show is going on another hiatus with a return date expected sometime in late May

March 10 – The new NBC drama Believe will air its series premiere at 10 PM

Show Synopsis: Levitation, telekinesis, the ability to control nature, see the future… since she was born, Bo (newcomer Johnny Sequoyah) has had gifts she could neither fully understand nor control. But now that she is 10 years old, her powers have become stronger and the threat from malevolent forces that would use her abilities to control the world has grown more dangerous. With her life and future in jeopardy, Bo’s protector, Milton Winter (Delroy Lindo), turns to an unlikely source to keep her safe: Tate (Jake McLaughlin from Crash), a wrongfully imprisoned death row inmate who’s lost his will. Tate and Bo begin an extraordinary journey, one in which trust must be earned. On the run and traveling from city to city, every place they stop and everyone they meet will be changed forever. But they’ll have to keep going to stay one step ahead of the sinister forces after Bo’s power… because it will take a miracle to keep them safe forever. The cast includes Jamie Chung (Once Upon a Time) and Kyle MacLachlan (Desperate Housewives and Twin Peaks).

March 14 – Banshee will air its season finale on Cinemax at 10 PM

March 15 – The season finale of Black Sails will air on Starz on 9 PM.

March 15 – The Lifetime movie The Grim Sleeper will debut at 8 PM

MOVIE SYNOPSIS: The film follows LA Weekly reporter Christine Pelisek (Dreama Walker from Don’t Trust the B—- in Apartment 23) as she doggedly investigates the unsolved murders of dozens of women in Los Angeles and soon realizes one person is responsible for many of these deaths that began over 20 years earlier. After a string of murders in the 1980s, the violence seemed to end; but almost 14 years later, another murder spree begins, leading Pelisek to dub the killer “The Grim Sleeper.” The reporter-turned-amateur detective notices similarities between the cases and sets out to break the story of her career, researching evidence and interviewing witnesses for clues to the killer’s identity. While police and lead detectives (Ernie Hudson and Michael O’Neill) kept the community in the dark about a potential serial killer on the loose, Pelisek contacts the victims’ families to offer them the truth about what may have happened to their daughters, sisters, wives and mothers. When the only known survivor (Macy Gray) comes forward to tell her side of the story, pieces of the mystery unravel and Pelisek is even more determined to bring justice for the victims.

March 16 – A special two-hour farewell special for the long-running, but recently defunct Lifetime drama, Army Wives will air at 9 PM

SPECIAL DETAILS: The retrospective will feature interviews with cast members Kim Delaney, Sally Pressman, Brigid Brannagh, Wendy Davis, Sterling K. Brown, Brian McNamara, Terry Serpico, Drew Fuller and Jeremy Davidson. It will also feature EP Jeff Melvoin and Tanya Biank, whose book “Army Wives” inspired the 7-season series as well a commentary from real military wives.

March 16 – The NBC drama Believe will move to its regular time slot at 9 PM followed by the series premiere of the new drama Crisis at 10 PM

Show Synopsis (Crisis): To bring the most powerful people in the world to their knees, threaten what they hold most dear. It’s field trip day for the students of Ballard High, a school that educates the children of DC’s elite, but when their bus is ambushed on a secluded rural road, the teenagers and their chaperones are taken, igniting a national crisis. The cast includes Gillian Anderson, Dermot Mulroney, Lance Gross and Rachael Taylor.

March 16 – The new UP Network movie Dear Viola will debut at 7 PM

MOVIE SYNOPSIS: When the writer of a local, obsessively-read, beloved advice column, entitled “Dear Viola,” decides to retire and leave the quaint seaside village of Bellport, seasoned editor Earl Bellamy (Neil Crone) is taken aback. While hoping to keep a lid on this news and his paper going, Earl unexpectedly finds a brand -new “Viola” column on his desk. Earl and his staffers Brian (Adamo Ruggiero) and Peggy (Sheila McCarthy), and soon the entire town find Viola’s new published tone to be refreshing, no -nonsense, funny and wise. Soon mail starts flooding in and using the security camera, Earl discovers the mystery columnist to be none other than Katie Miner (Kellie Martin), the shy accountant who has quietly done the books at the paper for years. Katie agrees to continue writing the column as long as her identity can remain secret. But how long with that last before things start to change.

March 17 – The Tomorrow People will move to its new night (Mondays) at 9 PM on The CW [say goodbye to “Amell Wednesdays”]

March 17 through March 20 – Starz will reair the first season (8 episodes) of Da Vinci’s Demons at 7 PM with two back-to-back episodes airing each night

March 18 – The mid-season finale of Pretty Little Liars will air on ABC Family at 8 PM

March 18 – The season finales of Rizzoli & Isles and Perception will air on TNT at 9 and 10 PM respectively

March 19 – The new drama The 100 will debut on The CW at 9 PM

Show Synopsis: Ninety-seven years ago, nuclear Armageddon decimated planet Earth, destroying civilization. The only survivors were the 400 inhabitants of 12 international space stations that were in orbit at the time. Three generations have been born in space, the survivors now number 4,000, and resources are running out on their dying “Ark” – the 12 stations now linked together and repurposed to keep the survivors alive. Draconian measures including capital punishment and population control are the order of the day, as the leaders of the Ark take ruthless steps to ensure their future, including secretly exiling a group of 100 juvenile prisoners to the Earth’s surface to test whether it’s habitable. The cast includes newcomer Eliza Taylor, Paige Turco (Person of Interest), Thomas McDonell (Suburgatory), Marie Avgeropoulos (Cult), Kelly Hu (Arrow), Isaiah Washington (Grey’s Anatomy) and Henry Ian Cusick (Lost).

March 21 – The CW dramedy Hart of Dixie is moving to its new night (Fridays) and time (9 PM)

March 22 – The Starz drama Da Vinci’s Demons will return for its second season at 9 PM

March 23 – The sixth (and final) season of Drop Dead Diva will start on Lifetime with a two-hour season premiere at 9 PM

March 23 – The new Hallmark Movie Channel movie The Redemption of Henry Myers will debut at 9 PM

MOVIE SYNOPSIS: Henry Myers (Drew Walters from Friday Night Lights) is living a hard life, surviving on the frontier any way he can even if it means robbing a bank. After his latest heist backfires and his partners (Beau Smith and Rio Alexander) betray him and leave him for dead, Henry’s life takes a surprising turn when he finds kindness and compassion from a widow (Erin Bethea from Fireproof) and her children (Jaden Roberts and Ezra Proch). With this family’s influence and support, Henry begins to question the choices he’s made in his life. Just as things begin to make sense, Henry’s life is shaken again when his old partners show up. Will Henry Myers seek the revenge he desires or finally find his redemption?

March 24 – The season finale of Teen Wolf will air on MTV at 10 PM

March 24 – The spring finale of Switched at Birth and the season finale of The Fosters will air on ABC Family at 8 and 9 PM respectively

March 26 – After eight seasons on the air, Psych will come to a close on the USA Network at 9 PM followed by a one-hour live show called “Psych After Show” that will feature a Q&A with the cast and series creator Steve Franks

March 28 – Helix will air its season finale on Syfy at 10 PM

March 29 – The season finale of the Hallmark Channel drama When Calls the Heart will air at 9 PM

March 30 – A new season of Call the Midwife and Mr. Selfridge will begin on PBS at 8 and 9 PM respectively

NOTE: Both series – Call the Midwife and Mr. Selfridge – will run every Sunday night through May 18.

March 30 – The Walking Dead will air its season finale on AMC at 9 PM

March 31 – The season finale of Intelligence will air on CBS at 10 PM
