They Deserve Their Own Show (Part 29)
Here is the next installment of actors and actresses who are under-appreciated, deserving of more attention or perhaps even their own show:
Allison Miller – Allison is a relative newcomer, but many viewers will know her as Princess Michelle Benjamin in the short-lived NBC series Kings, starring Christopher Egan and Ian McShane. She has also appeared in episodes of General Hospital, Cold Case, Desperate Housewives and Boston Legal. She played Leslie Mann’s character Scarlett (as a teen) in the box office movie 17 Again and she also appeared in the movie Blood: The Last Vampire.
Diana-Maria Riva – Diana-Maria’s earliest work includes Murder One, The Pretender, Party of Five, The X-Files, NYPD Blue, The Drew Carey Show and Everybody Loves Raymond. She then landed a role in the short-lived series Philly and then had a recurring role in Sabrina, the Teenage Witch. She made guest appearances on CSI, Reba, Miss Match and Yes, Dear before getting a recurring role on both The West Wing and Studio 60 on the Sunset Strip. She then moved on to a lead role in the short-lived Lifetime series Side Order of Life and appeared in an episode of In Plain Sight and several episodes of Castle. Her movie work includes 17 Again, Employee of the Month and Chasing Papi. She has several projects in the works including Operating Instructions with Christine Lahti and Nick Zano, Our Family Wedding with America Ferrera, Forest Whitaker and Taye Diggs and The Fifth Mafia.
Azura Skye – Azura’s first big break was in the short-lived WB comedy Zoe, Duncan, Jack & Jane (which starred then unknowns Selma Blair and Michael Rosenbaum) then she made guest appearances on Smallville, John Doe, Buffy, the Vampire Slayer, Judging Amy and CSI. Most recently she’s been seen in House, Bones, Ghost Whisperer, The Mentalist and Hawthorne. She also appeared in the box office movie One Missed Call with Shannyn Sossamon and Edward Burns.
Allan Louis – Best known as loveable chef Marco on the short-lived CW series Privileged (which starred Joanna Garcia and Anne Archer), Allan has guest starred in shows such as NYPD Blue, Invasion, Numb3rs, Charmed, CSI: Miami, Boston Legal, Drake & Josh, Cane and Days of our Lives. He also appeared in the movies Stomp the Yard and The Ten Commandments: The Musical.
William Mapother – William may be best known as being Tom Cruise’s cousin but he has quite a resume of his own, appearing in shows like Law & Order: Special Victims Unit, CSI: Miami, Crossing Jordan, Threshold and Criminal Minds. He is probably best known, though, as Ethan Rom from Lost. His movie roles include Magnolia, Mission Impossible II, In the Bedroom, Almost Famous, Vanilla Sky, Minority Report and World Trade Center. He will be seen in the movies Warrior with Ashley Greene and Kellan Lutz (from the Twilight Saga movies) and Cary Elwes and Another Earth.
Paul McGillion – Probably best known as Dr. Carson Beckett on Stargate: Atlantis, Paul has also guest starred in shows such as The Commish, Sliders, The X-Files, Mercy Point, Higher Ground, Smallville, Sanctuary, Supernatural and 24. His made-for-TV movie roles include Mom, Dad and Her and Beyond Loch Ness. He will be seen in the movies Mr. Noboby with Val Kilmer and Dylan Neal and Stargate: Extinction (the first movie based on the Stargate: Atlantis series).
Do you agree? Disagree? Do you recognize any or are they all unknowns to you? NGTV would love to hear your thoughts. The next installment will be posted on Wednesday.
