Thanks to the folks over at The Hollywood Reporter, I am pleased to announce that the new Canadian series Bitten – based on the best-selling novels “Women of the Otherworld” by author Kelley Armstrong – has been acquired by Syfy.

The series will follow Elena (actress Laura Vandervoort of Smallvile and V fame) as she attempts to escape a world she never wanted to be part of, as well as the man who turned her into a werewolf, abandoning her pack and taking refuge in a new city, where she works as a photographer and hides her werewolf existence from her boyfriend. When bodies begin turning up in her pack’s backyard, she finds herself back at Stonehaven, the werewolves’ ancestral domain, where she will stop at nothing to defend her pack.

The cast also include actor Greg Bryk (XIII The Series) as Pack Alpha Jeremy Danvers, actor Greyston Holt (Alcatraz and Durham County) as Clayton Danvers, and actor Paul Greene (Wicked, Wicked Games) as Philip McAdams.

This isn’t the first Canadian series picked up by Syfy, as the cabler has been airing Canadian-imports Lost Girl and Continuum for the last few TV seasons.

Bitten will have a 13-episode run on Syfy sometime in 2014.
