They Deserve Their Own Show (Part 21)

Here is the next installment of actors and actresses who are under-appreciated, deserving of more attention or perhas even their own show:

Rekha Sharma

Rekha Sharma

Rekha Sharma – She is best known as one of the final 5 Cylons on Battlestar Galactica, but she made numerous appearances on Dark Angel, John Doe and Smallville.  She appeared in the movie AVPR: Aliens vs. Predator and the Jennifer Aniston/Aaron Eckhart movie Love Happens.  She will also soon be seen Syfy movie Battlestar Galactica: The Plan.

Chelan Simmons

Chelan Simmons

Chelan Simmons – Canadian viewers will probably recognize Chelan from her recurring role in the series Edgemont, but most know her as Hillary from Kyle XY.  She’s also appeared in Supernatural, Smallville, Wonderfalls, Stargate: Atlantis, Psych and  Men In Trees. Her movie roles include Final Destination 3, Dr. Doolittle 3 and Thomas Kinkade’s Home for Christmas.  She will be seen in the sci-fi movie Ice Twisters and the 2010 movie Percy Jackson & the Olympians: The Lightning Thief, which stars Uma Thurman, Rosario Dawson, Kevin McKidd and Pierce Brosnan (among many others).  And, she just appeared in the Lifetime movie Sorority Wars with Lucy Hale, Faith Ford and Courtney Thorne-Smith.

Samantha Smith

Samantha Smith

Samantha Smith – She started out as Jerry Maguire’s former girlfriend in the movie of the same name then moved on to guest appearances in shows such as The Pretender and Pacific Blue, made numerous appearances in Two of A Kind and Profiler, but she is probably best known as Mary Winchester, Sam and Dean’s mom on Supernatural.  She also starred in two Hallmark movies, Love’s Unending Legacy and Love’s Unfolding Dream, taking over the role for which Katherine Heigl originated.  She was seen in the Transformers sequel and the movie The Chosen One with Rob Schneider and Holland Taylor.

Kyle Schmid

Kyle Schmid

Kyle Schmid – He appeared in the box office movies The Pacifier and The Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants then got a recurring role in the ABC Family Channel series Beautiful People. He then stepped into the role of Henry Fitzroy in the short-lived series Blood Ties, based on the books by Tanya Huff.  He made a one-time guest appearance on Smallville after Blood Ties and is now involved in four productions – Deep Cove, The Thaw, Gravy Train and Strife.

Ivan Sergei

Ivan Sergei –Ivan has appeared in countless series, but folks may remember him from the short-lived WB series Jack & Jill and the short-lived series Hawaii. He appeared in Crossing Jordan and the final season of Charmed. His earlier made-for-TV movies include Mother May I Sleep with Danger, 10.5 and Santa Baby. He appeared in the Nora RobertsLifetime movie High Noon with Emilie de Ravin and Cybill Shepherd and the movie To Love and Die with Shiri Appleby and Tim Matheson. He also recently appeared in a few episodes of Army Wives and appeared in an episode of Warehouse 13.  Ivan was also recently cast in the Starz 10-episode dramedy Gravity.

Mark Sheppard

Mark Sheppard

Mark Sheppard – Most sci-fi fans will know Mark for his roles as Badger in Firefly and as Romo Lampkin in Battlestar Galactica. In the last few years he’s been seen in 24, Medium, Bionic Woman, In Plain Sight, Burn Notice, The Middleman, Leverage and Dollhouse. He also appeared in an episode of  Warehouse 13 and he will be seen in at least one episode of White Collar.
