They Deserve Their Own Show (Part 18)
Here is the next installment of actors and actresses who are under-appreciated, deserving of more attention or perhaps even their own show:
Leah Pipes – Leah got her start on the short-lived series Clubhouse then guest starred in episodes of Malcolm in the Middle, Bones and Crossing Jordan before being cast in the lead role in the short-lived series Life is Wild. Since then she has had appearances in Ghost Whisperer and Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles. She has appeared in the movies Pixel Perfect, Odd Girl Out and Her Best Move. She was recently seen in the horror movie Sorority Row and will appear in the midseason ABC series The Deep End with Matt Long, Billy Zane, Tina Majorino and Clancy Brown.
Sydney Tamiia Poitier – Sydney is the progeny of none other than legendary actor Sidney Poitier and she got her start as the lead in the short-lived series Abby then she stepped into recurring roles in Joan of Arcadia and Veronica Mars. She appeared in the movies Grindhouse and Death Proof and was recently seen in the short-lived remake of Knight Rider.
Carly Pope – Carly first got noticed in the cult-favorite WB series Popular, has appeared in the movies The Glass House and Orange County, and has had guest roles on Tru Calling, Jake 2.0, The 4400, Californication and Dirt. She was seen in this past season’s 24 as well as the movie 24: Redemption. She has been in the made-for-TV movies 1st to Die, 10.5: Apocalypse and Recipe for a Perfect Christmas. She will be seen next year in the NBC mini-series Day One and will be seen in the movies Stuntmen alongside Brandon Routh and Marc Blucas and Life Is Hot in Cracktown with Shannyn Sossamon.
Ty Olsson –Ty Olsson played “Plow Guy” (aka Sam) in Men in Trees, but he has had guest roles in The Sentinel, Stargate SG-1, Battlestar Galactica, Kingdom Hospital, Psych, Eureka, Smallville and Flash Gordon. He has also been seen in the ABC Family Channel movies Fallen and Christmas Caper, the made-for-TV movie Eight Days to Live and the theatrical releases AVPR: Aliens vs Predator – Requieum and Flight 93. He also appeared in the Lifetime movie High Noon based on the Nora Roberts novel and he was just seen in the ABC summer series Defying Gravity.
Hal Ozsan – Like so many actors before him, Hal got his first big break with guest starring roles in Felicity, Providence and Roswell before landing a recurring role on Dawson’s Creek. He appeared in the made-for-TV movies Helter Skelter and Fallen and had guest appearances in The Division, CSI: Miami, CSI: NY, Shark, The Unit, Without A Trace and Californication. He is probably best known for his work in the final season of Kyle XY. And, he will be seen in the movie Groupie, starring alongside Eric Roberts and Taryn Manning.
Erik Palladino – His early work includes appearances on Murphy Brown and Malcolm & Eddie. He then landed a role on ER and soon after that he appeared in Joan of Arcadia and Over There. He made guest appearances on CSI, Numb3rs, Criminal Minds, Reaper, Cupid, Burn Notice, Private Practice and Fringe. He has three projects in the works, including Caught on Tape, The Speed of Thought and The New Daughter. And, he was recently seen in several episodes of the new ABC Family Channel series Make It or Break It.
