MODERN FAMILY: Party Crasher

This episode had so many funny moments. Babies, first kisses, weddings and eye patches always make for a great time. I have to say that Lily (Aubrey Anderson-Emmons) was quite the scene stealer this week. I really enjoyed her performance in this episode. Let’s get down to it!

It is Manny’s 14^th birthday and Gloria and Jay are planning a surprise party for him. Gloria wants his day to be special since it will be his last birthday before the baby comes. Manny has plans for a birthday luncheon with some friends (since he thinks Jay forgot about his birthday).

Haley is dating a much older, hairy guy named Kenny that Phil actually likes. He is a jeans designer and a total jeanious! Yeah…super lame. Phil thinks he is cool until he realizes that Haley is actually dating him. Then there is a problem and Phil said “I’m gonna fight him up real nice!” Hilarious! Claire convinces him to keep pretending that he likes Kenny because Haley is just doing it to get under his skin. He goes along with it, but not with a smile.

Lily is going through a phase where she wants to get married, so she asked Mitchell to marry her. She gave him a ring and he gave her one and it was really cute. Well Cam got jealous that Lily didn’t ask him to marry her, so he planned a fabulous wedding for them. He bought her a little car, and had lights and walked her down the aisle. He even had all of her stuffed animals lined up to greet the happy couple. Mitchell was shocked at all the effort he put into this wedding but you know Cam can’t be outdone.  

Gloria and Jay are having a tough time getting ready for the party. They are running late so they end up stealing a woman’s cake (because they couldn’t wait for their number to be called in the bakery). Then they bust through a parking lot gate because they lost the ticket and the attendant would not let them out (even when Gloria put on her sexy act). They were like Bonnie and Clyde in this episode. All for the love of Manny.

Lily isn’t having the best luck. She got a piece of rice in her eye, and then she had a little car accident in her car after the wedding to Cam. To finish it off, Cam accidentally knocked her off of a pool chair in to the pool. Poor Lily is banged up with a neck brace and an eye patch on. I know we shouldn’t laugh at children being injured, but she stole the show. This part of the storyline with Cam continuing to accidentally injure her was so funny.

At Jay and Gloria’s house everyone is getting ready for Manny’s big surprise. He gets home a little early and they turn down the lights. Well to everyone’s surprise Manny came home with a girl who wanted to give Manny a birthday kiss. She did and then turned on the lights and screamed and ran out when she saw everyone looking at them. Manny turned around to find his surprise and he was surprised and embarrassed. What a way to have your first kiss.

Gloria is having contractions but she is trying to hold the baby in until after midnight. She doesn’t want Manny to have to share his birthday with the new baby. She couldn’t hold on that long and they all end up at the hospital. Phil has had enough of pretending to like Kenny. He wants his daughter back and goes after her, which is what Haley wanted all along. She wasn’t into Kenny just as Claire said.

In the end, Gloria had a baby boy and whole family was there to welcome him. He crashed the party and Manny had a birthday he will never forget.
