What to Get the NiceGirls in Your Life for Christmas

By  |

Wow, it’s my third Christmas as part of the NiceGirls staff and what an interesting year it has been for TV and movie goers. Wouldn’t you agree? There have been zombies, aliens and witches galore (not to mention the lingering obsession with werewolves and vampires). And don’t get me started on the recent uptick in fairytale stories that have hit TV this fall and will permeate throughout next year, especially at the box office (and I mean that in a good way)… But, rather than focus on just one theme for this year’s gift guide (unlike past years), I decided to go with some of the top obsessions (as I mentioned above): zombies, aliens and witches.

Whether you are a gamer, TV-ophile or a movie goer, I hope you will find some great gift ideas for the NiceGirls in your life (or maybe even find a new addition for your own collection). The following are just a small sample of gifts centering on zombies, aliens and witches (oh my!) that you can buy.

Get those credit cards ready!

NOTE:  All of the following gifts were found at Amazon.

1. [easyazon-link asin=”B004LROMWU”]Falling Skies[/easyazon-link] – This new TNT series debuted on TV this summer and made a big splash with the viewers, becoming the top cable series for the summer. With its theme of Earth being taken over by creepy spider/crap-like aliens and their robotic henchmen, TV goers joined the crusade by the 12th Mass to fight back. And while the first season of this remarkable alien invasion series is not yet available, you can pre-order the DVD set [easyazon-link asin=”B004LROMWU”]here[/easyazon-link].

2. [easyazon-link asin=”B0025KZV7A”]Left 4 Dead[/easyazon-link] – According to various online sources, the Left 4 Dead video game franchise is one of the best multi-player games out there. Inside the game, you and three friends must fight your way through hordes of zombies towards a safe house or extraction point. It is said that there are few games like this franchise that make you rely on your friends as much or are as genuinely frightening. You can pick up this game [easyazon-link asin=”B0025KZV7A”]here[/easyazon-link].

3. [easyazon-link asin=”B002JVWR9U”]The Vampire Diaries[/easyazon-link] – Yeah, sure the focal point of this CW series are the Salvatore brothers – who are vampires – and human Elena Gilbert; but witches have figured prominently enough throughout the complicated storylines within the world of Mystic Falls. You can get in on all the action of the TV show via the DVD for its [easyazon-link asin=”B002JVWR9U”]first season[/easyazon-link] and [easyazon-link asin=”B003L77GH4″]second season[/easyazon-link].

4. [easyazon-link asin=”B0034G4ORM”]Battle: Los Angeles[/easyazon-link] – Do you want to see Marines fight an unrelenting barrage of alien invaders who seem impenetrable and unstoppable in order to save a few stranded civilians at a police station in Santa Monica? You can see all the action of [easyazon-link asin=”B0034G4ORM”]this 2011 box office film[/easyazon-link] that starred Aaron Eckhart and Michelle Rodriguez (among others) on DVD.

5. [easyazon-link asin=”B0049P1VHS”]The Walking Dead[/easyazon-link] – What started in 2003 by Image Comics as a monthly comic book has recently become an international phenomenon thanks to the AMC TV series. For the die-hard fans, [easyazon-link asin=”1607060760″]The Walking Dead: Compendium One[/easyazon-link] paperback contains the first 48 editions of the comic or for the TV-minded folks, the first season on [easyazon-link asin=”B0049P1VHS”]DVD[/easyazon-link].

6. [easyazon-link asin=”B005MMNXPA”]The Secret Circle[/easyazon-link] – The trilogy of books (The Initiation, The Captive and The Power) by L.J. Smith on which the CW series is loosely based are available in two books and tell the story of teen witches in New Salem, Massachusetts, who upon the arrival of Cassie Blake, realize that their powers are stronger with her than without her.

7. [easyazon-link asin=”B000JJ6K0Q”]Roswell[/easyazon-link] – This [easyazon-link asin=”B000JJ6K0Q”]DVD box set[/easyazon-link] puts the legend of Roswell – or at least the WB/UPN series – into one handy collection for the alien-loving TV fan. The series starred Jason Behr, (a then unknown) Katherine Heigl and Brendan Fehr as alien/human hybrids, living in Roswell, New Mexico, going to high school and falling in love with humans.

8. [easyazon-link asin=”B002WY65VU”]Zombieland[/easyazon-link] – This 2010 box office film starred Woody Harrelson, Jesse Eisenberg, Emma Stone and Abigail Breslin as survivors of a zombie apocalypse who go on an extended road trip across the southwestern US in an attempt to find a sanctuary free from zombies. The DVD of this “zombie comedy” can be found [easyazon-link asin=”B002WY65VU”]here[/easyazon-link].

9. [easyazon-link asin=”B001BN4WL8″]Charmed[/easyazon-link] – This TV series that focused on the Halliwell sisters, who happen to be the three most powerful witches in the Wiccan world, ran for eight seasons on the WB. Among the many collectibles for this show is [easyazon-link asin=”0609806521″]The Book of Shadows[/easyazon-link]; while this book is classified as the “Unofficial Companion” to the series, it would make a great addition to any fan’s collection.

Again, this is just a small sample of the gifts from among the vast array of zombies, aliens and witches out there for which you can get the NiceGirls in your life. You have less than a month to get your holiday shopping done, so shop wisely!
