Today’s Women Behind the Scenes spotlight is shone on writer and producer Melinda Hsu Taylor.

Melinda got her start in the world of television when she joined the writing staff of the CBS series Medium during the show’s first season in 2005. She wrote two episodes in the first season and then became a story editor for the second season, writing her third and final episode for the show before leaving in 2006.

She moved on to become executive story editor for the short-lived FOX drama Vanished in 2006, writing one episode for the show before it was canceled after airing only 13 episodes. In 2007, she become an executive story editor and writer for another short-lived series, this time the ABC police drama Women’s Murder Club. Regrettably in 2008, the show was canceled after its first season.

She also served as a co-producer for the show during its fifth season. The following year, the final season for the series, she was promoted to producer. She shared in a writing staff nomination for the Writers Guild of America for best drama series at the 2010 ceremony for their work on the fifth season of Lost as well as a 2010 Primetime Emmy Award for the series’ sixth and final season.

She is currently a supervising producer and writer on the much-anticipated TV series Falling Skies that is set to have its two-hour debut on TNT on June 19.
