A Million Little Things: “Change of Plans”
A Million Little Things aired a new episode on Thursday night.
Here is a synopsis for season two, episode 16: Change of Plans
Eddie’s sister comes to town and causes tension with the family, and Katherine speaks her mind at work. Meanwhile, during a girls’ night out, Maggie convinces Delilah to put herself out there.
Nice Girls Cay and Rueben share their thoughts on this episode:
Cay:
I feel bad for Eddie’s sister – if she really has cleaned up her life, his incorrect accusation must have really hurt. OTOH, it sounds like she has *a lot* to atone for with many people in her life. It was very un-Katherine like for her to up and quit her job without a backup plan! Good for her, but obviously the timing is not ideal! I would think that her and Carter could probably set up their own firm. Ha, maybe they can hire Gary?
Is Theo’s friend’s mother being set up as a potential love interest for Gary? Sure seemed that way. On the plus side, she really doesn’t seem like she takes shit from anyone. However, it just feels like Maggie and Gary are meant to be together. I like that they aren’t showing that Theo’s issues have magically resolved – he’s clearly still working through a lot.
Delilah trying to get Maggie out into the dating world sure backfired! I feel like Delilah *definitely* doesn’t need either a relationship, or a fling right now. She’s got more than enough going on! I’m guessing this is all a step to bring Maggie back to Gary, but would be nice to see her meet someone/get treated really well by someone, even if briefly. The discussion at the table – where Delilah gets words wrong because she wasn’t born in the US caught me off guard. Maybe they’ve mentioned it before, but I can’t remember any previous illusions to that or her not understanding the meanings of words. That made this scene feel out of character for both of them.
Boy, things got tense there with Regina, Rome, and Eve! I wonder if it could come back to be a problem that they “tricked” him into signing away his parental rights? On the other hand, all they seemed to say that was a lie was Eve calling Regina “Wendy” as a code, so I’m not sure what he would argue – she told him that they wanted to adopt the baby.
Rueben:
First of all, I loved that Regina and Rome both stood up to Derek when he came storming into the restaurant looking for Eve; but I have BIG doubts that that will be the last we hear/see of him. I can’t see him as the kind to just give up. I like Eve and want to see her happy; and, of course, I want Regina and Rome to have a happy ending with adopting Eve’s baby without complication from that jerk Derek!
I agree, Darcy, the tough mom from the laser tag place, is being set-up as a possible love interest for Gary – why bring her in otherwise; but I too want to see Gary and Maggie get back together. However, with Maggie getting the fellowship at Oxford that is going to make things a bit complicated to say the least.
I found it odd that Eddie would find a vial of coke under his couch so easily with his sister right there. Did any of her things even end up falling out of a bag or a pocket THAT quickly?! I mean I get it that he would automatically assume it was his sister’s, but pointing the finger at her seemed almost too much of a trope. Leave it to them to have it actually be Dakota’s drugs instead. I have to wonder, though, about Lindsay bringing up about the lake house the family used to go to. The look on her face, and the way she talked about it almost makes me wonder what happened there – specifically to her – that put her on the path that she went down with drugs and alcohol?
I also have to agree that Delilah doesn’t need another fling to complicate her life. She’s already got enough on her plate. I recall something vaguely being mentioned that Delilah grew up in France so I wasn’t as thrown by her not getting the phrases right, but I paid her mistakes more to drinking all those shots than anything; but you do have a point that it did seem out of character to bring it up since they haven’t really mentioned her not growing up in the States.
I think Katherine felt great about quitting in the moment, but regret has obviously already set in, and it could become problematic. Although, Katherine could start her own practice with that new lady client from that last-minute meeting she was brought into as her first new client. She and Carter definitely have the experience to start out on their own.
