Blindspot Roundtable: The Tale of the Book of Secrets

This week’s Blindspot focused on:

Roman’s clues lead to a billionaire hypochondriac with stem cells that could cure Jane, who is now on her deathbed; Patterson and Rich offer to trade the Book of Secrets for the stem cells — but first they’ll have to get it.

STUPID

Cay: While I like that the show came back to the book several episodes after initially bringing it up, finding the book seemed a bit too easy for how many people had been looking for it for how long.

Roz: It gives me great pause when Patterson and Rich saw more of this mystery than Roman did. It doesn’t seem like Roman to not follow through with what he wanted.

Leah: Getting something Roman didn’t is ridiculous. Even if it is Patterson and Rich doing the “solving.” Roman was meticulous. A master planner. I don’t see something slipping past him.

Rueben: I’m glad you brought that up, Roz, as until you did, I hadn’t thought of that, but you are so right. Roman has given them SO many clues in his caches, and given how important it was for him to get a cure, I can’t believe either that he didn’t do everything he could to find that book. Of course, if he had we wouldn’t have had that Patterson/Rich adventure.

AWESOME

Cay: I always love the Rich and Patterson show and a legit treasure hunt was a fun premise. I also liked that Zapata brought Boston in to impersonate Del Toro.

Roz: Peru! I didn’t know what to expect from an episode that was so much outside of the US, but it was amazing to see all of those places (and for Patterson and Rich to work together that well).

Leah: Honestly, every episode that has Rich and Patterson interaction is awesome. To have them galavanting around the world, working together, posing as a couple. It. Was. The. Best.

Rueben: We FINALLY got a Rich/Patterson adventure-mission out in the field, which is what I’ve been hoping for for quite some time. Haven’t you guys? They worked really well together. And their pretending to be a married couple and the rouse with the B&B owner, that was priceless. And even their arguing in Jane’s room after she got the stem cell treatment, even that was funny. How about his pathetic Indy quip; Patterson gave him grief for them. All of their scenes in this episode were so entertaining.

SO SO

Roz: Madeline! I’m so tired of whatever she wants. Hacking a plane is one thing, but based on the preview even that for me is MANY steps too far.

Cay: I thought the “we found the book now Jane is cured” in about 2 minutes flat seemed a bit awkward, but hey, I was so done with the ZIP poisoning plot anyway.

Rueben: Despite the fun of the Rich/Patterson adventure, the whole despair they wanted us to feel over Jane possibly dying was anti-climatic because she’s the freaking lead – like they were actually going to let her die.

Leah: A little from Roz’s answer and little from Rueben’s answer.

YOUR THOUGHTS

Roz: THE EFF IS GOING ON NEXT WEEK? WE’RE GOING THERE?

Cay: Aside from the Tasha aspect, the whole Madeline story line is boring me. I only vaguely remember why she wanted to crash that plane anyway. I liked the initial set up with Zapata and Blake but it has also gone on too long without enough intrigue.

Rueben: I’m really getting sick of Burke (as Roz mentioned above). What is she planning to do next week? Can we make this whole storyline with her end? I think I’d rather they go back to the story of the week based on Jane’s tattoo rather than one big bad to chase after. I’d also love to see more adventures of Rich and Patterson out in the field.
