My Top Choices for May TV

By  |

The 2022-2023 TV season is coming to a close next month. How is this TV season nearly over already?! There will be a lot to watch on the major and cable networks as well as all over streaming.

The following are my top choices for May:

FINALES

May is always the end of the latest TV season and every May includes lots of finale episodes. Among all of those finales, the following are the ones I am most looking forward to watching:

The Rookie on ABC on May 2 at 8 PM
Will Trent on ABC on May 2 at 10 PM
The Company You Keep on May 7 on ABC at 10 PM
The Power on Amazon on May 12
9-1-1 on FOX on May 15 at 8 PM (for two hours)
NCIS: Hawai’i (two parts) on May 15 and May 22 at 10 PM on CBS
9-1-1: Lone Star on FOX on May 16 at 8 PM (for two hours)
So Help Me Todd on CBS at 9 PM on May 18
Fire Country on CBS at 9 PM on May 19
NCIS on May 22 on CBS at 9 PM

And the following series finales will air in May:

A Million Little Things on May 3 at 10 PM on ABC
Titans on May 11 on Max (formerly HBO Max)
NCIS: Los Angeles (two parts) on CBS on May 14 and May 21 at 10 PM

NEW SHOWS

Out of the 10 new dramas that will debut throughout the month, the following are the shows I am most anxious to see:

Queen Charlotte: A Bridgerton Story on May 4 on Netflix. This prequel spin-off series will focus on young Queen Charlotte (played by Golda Rosheuval as an adult and India Amarteifio as the younger version) and young King George of England.

Class of ‘09 on May 10 on FX on Hulu. An ensemble cast, which includes Brian Tyree Henry, Kate Mara and Brian J. Smith, stars in this limited series that will follow a class of FBI agents, who grapple with immense changes as the U.S. criminal justice system is altered by artificial intelligence.

American Born Chinese on May 24 on Disney+. Michelle Yeoh and Ke Huy Quan will star in a series about Jin Wang, an average teenager juggling his high school social life with his home life. When he meets a new foreign student on the first day of the school year, even more worlds collide as Jin is unwittingly entangled in a battle of Chinese mythological Gods.

Fubar on May 25 on Netflix. Arnold Schwarzenegger will star as a CIA operative on the verge of retirement discovers a family secret and is forced back into the field for one last job. Top Gun: Maverick alum Monica Barbaro will play his daughter and The Last Ship alum Travis Van Winkle also stars.

Make sure to check out our full May TV calendar for all the dramas, specials and made-for-TV movies that will air throughout the month when it is posted later this week, and let us know what you’re looking forward to watching.

Using her favorite online handle, Rueben is an East Coast-bred gal who is now a permanent Californian and a lifelong tv-oholic. She watches at least 25 TV shows a week, goes to the movies as often as possible, listens to music every waking moment, reads every day and “plays” on the internet every chance she can. Some of her current favorite TV shows are Outlander, Sweet Magnolias, Wednesday, The Mandalorian, The Equalizer, Fire Country, Miss Scarlet, Hudson & Rex, SkyMed, The Rookie, Cobra Kai, Virgin River, The Witcher, Leverage: Redemption and School Spirits. She is looking forward to the long-awaited return of Bridgerton, is curious about the debut of Orphan Black: Echoes and the 3rd and final season of Sweet Tooth coming in June, and the season finales of the abbreviated 2023-2024 TV season.
