A Pop Culture Gift Guide for 2020

By  |

Given all the turmoil of 2020, I thought it would be fun to suggest some unique, pop culture goodies for folks to consider getting as stocking stuffers. Hopefully some of these gifts will make you smile or even make you laugh out loud. Happy shopping!

Supernatural Coloring Books (Amazon)

It only seemed right given that, after 15 seasons, the long-running Supernatural, which will be coming to an end on November 19, gets a spot on the pop culture gift guide. The above isn’t the only Supernatural coloring book available [not to mention all the other collectibles for the show]. Pick up a couple for the Supernatural fan that you know.

Huntees Face Masks

This eclectic West Hollywood store includes lots of masks based on TV shows and characters as well as music artists and so many more. Given that we have all been living with wearing masks nearly all year, wouldn’t it be great to give your TV-loving relative something fun in their stocking.

Snow Falling by Jane Gloriana Villanueva (Amazon)

This is the romance novel written by TV character Jane Villanueva from The CW dramedy Jane the Virgin; and something that any fan of the show would love to have on their bookshelf.

Star Wars The Mandalorian The Child Snow Globe (Hot Topic)

Baby Yoda first appeared around this time last year in the Disney+ series The Mandalorian, capturing the hearts of everyone who watched the streaming series without ever muttering a word (baby noises not included) and a few waves of his tiny hands. This cute little snow globe would make a great gift for any fan.

Honoring the Notorious RBG (Amazon)

September 18, 2020 was a bleak day for our country with the passing of the one and only Ruth Bader Ginsburg. This lined notebook/journal is emblazoned with “Women Belong In All Places Where Decisions Are Being Made” and makes a great gift for that fearless leader in your family.

Coloring Jason Momoa (Amazon)

Actor Jason Momoa has been acting for well over 20 years now, getting his start in Baywatch Hawaii, but of course the general public got to know him thanks to his role in the first season of Game of Thrones and more notably in the role of Arthur Curry in Justice League and Aquaman. [Eagle-eyed fans know him from North Shore and/or Stargate: Atlantis.] What better way than to gift that Jason fan in your life with this coloring book (or any of the other dozen or so coloring books that Amazon has available).

For All You Hallmark Movies Fans (Amazon)

There is a great portion of the viewing audience that LOVES watching Hallmark movies, especially during the holidays [and just as many who probably dislike it] so you could get this super cozy blanket for those who loves the movies so they can cuddle up in at as you watch your movies OR you could get this as a gag gift for those who don’t.

Funko Pop Figurines

When in doubt, get a Funko Pop figurine. They have figurines for DC, Marvel, Disney, Star Wars, sports and practically every TV show. If you can’t find one that fits that pop culture person in your life, then there is something seriously wrong!

Social Distancing Club Blanket (Hot Topic)

If you’re looking for a more pandemic-themed (that shouldn’t even be a “thing,” but sadly it is) blanket, here is one from Hot Topic that reminds everyone about the 6 feet safety protocol. At the very least, you can have a great blanket as a reminder of one of the most tumultuous years in present-day history.

No matter what you decide to get that pop culture fan in your life, I hope you can find something fun and something that they will just love. Happy shopping!

PS: Stay safe, be well and please wear a mask!

Using her favorite online handle, Rueben is an East Coast-bred gal who is now a permanent Californian and a lifelong tv-oholic. She watches at least 25 TV shows a week, goes to the movies as often as possible, listens to music every waking moment, reads every day and “plays” on the internet every chance she can. Some of her current favorite TV shows are Outlander, Sweet Magnolias, Wednesday, The Mandalorian, The Equalizer, Fire Country, Miss Scarlet, Hudson & Rex, SkyMed, The Rookie, Cobra Kai, Virgin River, The Witcher, Leverage: Redemption and School Spirits. She is looking forward to the long-awaited return of Bridgerton, is curious about the debut of Orphan Black: Echoes and the 3rd and final season of Sweet Tooth coming in June, and the season finales of the abbreviated 2023-2024 TV season.
