Interview: Maya Stojan – UPtv Movie Diagnosis Delicious

By  |

The new UPtv movie Diagnosis Delicious will debut this Sunday, March 22 at 7 PM (ET), starring Castle alum Maya Stojan and Happyland actor Ryan Rottman.

The movie is about a young doctor (Stojan) whose promotion hinges on her starting a hospital nutrition class but the catch is that she has to recruit a handsome local chef (Rottman) that she is immediately at odds with.

The cast of the movie includes Tanya Chisholm (Big Night Rush), Brian Baumgartner (The Office) and Bess Armstrong (My So-Called Life).

NiceGirlsTV was given the opportunity to speak with Maya Stojan about this movie and much more. Check out what she shared:

Can you tell us in your own words what your upcoming UPtv movie, Diagnosis Delicious, is about?

Absolutely! It’s a sweet love story about a doctor (me) and a chef, who at first do not get along! However, through a few challenging events they become closer and their connection turns from conflictual to caring.

Was there one thing that interested you most about your role in this movie?

I really loved that though my character played a doctor, she was able to give some of her time to learn how to cook, and although she was terrible at cooking at first, she stuck with it and became better in time. I also loved that she’s a fun, dorky and a well-rounded person, not just your stereotypical doctor.

Can you talk a little about what your experiences were like working on Castle and Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D?

Oh yes, it was wonderful. I felt like I had gained two incredible families!

What advice would you give an aspiring actor?

I would tell any aspiring actor to first really make sure that they LOVE being an actor more than anything else, because if there’s anything else they would rather be, then they should do that. But if it is something that really fuels them, and they are fully in love with the art, then I would tell them to stick with it and make a true commitment to it: to always be in an acting class, to always find a way to keep working on their craft. To persevere.

Do you have aspirations of being a writer, producer and/or director? If so, is there a dream project you’d love to work on in the future?

So, I just finished producing my first feature film Case 347. We recently premiered the film at the TCL Chinese Theatre, which was very exciting, and I’m certain it won’t be the last project I’ll be producing. One of my dreams is to be a series regular on a hit TV show that I love and admire, where I will be able to work with great people.

If you had one whole day to do whatever you wanted, without interruptions, what would you do?

I would be in nature somewhere with no phone or distractions. Just enjoy being outdoors!

What is your favorite pastime or hobby?

I love playing golf, skiing, dancing and yoga.

Is there one organization or charity that you support?

Yes, I support and volunteer at The Midnight Mission on Skid Row and I am an ambassador for Boo2Bullying.
