A Million Little Things: Grand Canyon

By  |

The second episode of A Million Little Things aired on Thursday night.

Here is the synopsis for season two, episode 2, Grand Canyon:

Eddie manages to keep Theo distracted in the midst of trying to track down Katherine, while Maggie realizes her mother’s surprise move to Boston might not be just for her. Meanwhile, Regina struggles with accepting Andrew’s ideas about the restaurant, and PJ makes a shocking confession to Rome.

Nice Girls Cay and Rueben share their thoughts:

Cay:

This episode didn’t waste any time into getting into the interesting bits! First we find out that Maggie’s mother is leaving her father, then we confirm that PJ grabbed the yearbook and sweater from Gary’s apartment (with a key!) and then Barbara shows up on Delilah’s doorstep to tell her that she doesn’t want the money!

Loved Gary with baby Charlotte – “Best part of being an uncle – tag out!”. Had to laugh because while I will always help with my friends’ kids, once they start crying, I’m also eager to hand them back over! Once again, I find myself absolutely loving Gary all around. His comments on the psychic were exactly the kinds of things that I would either think or say in the same situation! It was a nice twist for the psychic to say something that meant something to Maggie rather than to Delilah but obviously it points out some of the differences between Gary and Maggie. It was also so in character that Maggie’s mom texts him but not her.

Delilah and Andrew seem a bit too cozy! But I’m glad that Regina is willing to take his advice to keep the restaurant going.

Katherine is such a good person! Even though in many ways I think she’s crazy to go back to Eddie, another part of me wants to see them try to mend their relationship. Funny to think how much I disliked her initially. They’ve really softened her character/gave more insight into her motivations. Also interesting how much they’ve lightened up on Theo. She was a super Tiger Mom initially and he was very regimented, but he seems much more of a normal kid now. Probably Eddie’s doing.

Glad PJ’s secret is finally sort of out. Will be interesting to see how long it takes for Delilah and Rome to tell the others.

Who is the mystery guy at the bar? So sad that Maggie was willing to really talk with her mother finally after Gary pushed her towards doing so but it seems that her mother might have had other plans. We’ll see. Gary’s intuition is generally good, but the mystery man seems like trouble!

Rueben:

I was actually surprised that Katherine came back, and was totally expected her to be gone when Eddie was going through the house looking for her after she returned. I’m torn between whether I like the idea of them getting back together. They both seem to want that, but they had a lot of problems even before the affair and now with baby Charlie, that’s a lot to get over on Katherine’s part. I have to agree with you, Cay, that’s nice that Katherine is letting up on Theo, letting him be more of a kid and not so regimented. He’s a kid not a mini adult. Let’s hope that she and Eddie can heal their relationship over time.

I still don’t totally trust Andrew, and he was way too cozy with Delilah and the baby.

How much do we both love Gary?! That line that you mentioned (the tag out line about crying baby Charlie). I deliberately wrote that down while I was watching the episode. Gary gets the best lines; and he is SO spot on! I think he honestly believed that Maggie’s mom really did want to connect with her, but what’s the deal with Jason Ritter’s character? If Maggie’s mom came there for some younger guy, and kept that from her daughter, that’s just so underhanded.

I’m glad that PJ finally came clean with Rome, but he is so far off on thinking that Jon is his real dad; but I can totally see why he would THINK that. Delilah showing up at his house, the video that Jon made for his mom Barbara, et al. The clues easily lead to that thought, but at some point, his mom and Mitch are gonna have to come clean, telling him the truth. I think at this point he deserves to know the truth.

Cay's family thinks her obsession with pop culture is "not normal". Normal is boring!
