The InBetween Roundtable: “While the Song Remains the Same”

By  |

A new episode of The InBetween aired on NBC on Wednesday night, and the synopsis of that episode is as follows:

Tom and Damien investigate the mysterious death of a vibrant young woman, while Cassie’s visions reveal a complicated family story; Cassie also encounters an idol from her childhood in the InBetween and helps him right some past wrongs.

Join the NiceGirls staff as they discuss the episode using our new feature SASSY: S(tupid), A(wesome), S(o) S(o) and Y(our Thoughts):

STUPID

Lisa: It was stupid for the woman to slap her sister. It doesn’t matter how angry someone gets, you should never be violent especially to your family. And that “slap” led to her death which is tragic. Stupid, stupid, stupid.

Rueben: I had a feeling that the brother-in-law was involved.  To me they made that almost too obvious, but I wasn’t expecting it to go the way it did.  I get it that the sister of Holly (the victim) and her husband were frustrated with her, but they could have talked it out instead of how it happened.

Leah: This episode was pretty predictable for me. It really wasn’t great.

AWESOME

Lisa: There weren’t any Wow moments for me this week. I did think it was pretty cool that we met a character from Cassie’s childhood.

Rueben:  I think I liked that little candlelight vigil to the singer at the end, and there was that startling attack vision that Cassie had at the beginning.  That was SO harsh and realistic.

Leah: For me it was the acknowledgement that a person who is blood isn’t necessarily your parent. My sister and I are adopted and we find it completely obnoxious how people talk about it on shows. You would never call your birth parents your mom and/or dad…and not all of us care where we came from. This show got it exactly right! For that they get an awesome!

SO SO

Lisa: This is the first episode that was just so-so to me. Maybe I have a high expectation for the creep factor? I don’t know. I just wasn’t that into this episode.

Rueben:  I have to agree with you, Lisa, that this episode was a little meh.  Although I did like that we got a small insight into Cassie’s childhood with her telling the ghost of that singer about how his music helped during one of many bad times from when she was a little girl.

Leah: I’m with the both of you on this. It was just a meh episode for me.

YOUR THOUGHTS

Lisa: I thought we would see Damian mourning his fiancée more. I also hoped we would see or learn more about her. I don’t like that they just let that storyline go. Also, I enjoyed seeing Tom in the conference room scene without his hat on…score! Also, I was relieved that Tom’s husband didn’t have cancer. No more bad news! Just creepy stuff and investigations please!

Rueben:  I have to agree with Lisa that they should have shown more with Damien and his fiancee, not just talking about Cassie and Tom being at her funeral.  Why include her if they weren’t going to spend at least a little time on her?  It just seemed like such as waste of time otherwise.
