Happy New Year 2019

Happy New Year to All Our Readers!!

Did you have a nice New Year’s Eve? How are you celebrating the start of the New Year? Are you watching marathons on TV? Are you heading out to see a movie? Maybe you’re reading a good book or catching up on some sleep? However you are spending your day, I hope you are getting to do exactly as you want.

Since we are at the start of a New Year, I’d like to make some recommendations to our readers and to the powers that be in the entertainment industry.

First of all, if you haven’t done so yet, please check out the Canadian sci-fi series Travelers. Those in the States can watch all three seasons on Netflix; in fact, the third season was just released on December 14.

Here is a refresher on Travelers: Hundreds of years in the future, the last surviving humans discover a way of sending consciousness back through time, directly into people in the 21st century — “travelers,” who assume the lives of seemingly random people. They’re also secretly working as teams to perform missions in order to save humanity from a terrible future. Armed only with their knowledge of history and an archive of social media profiles, the travelers — who include an FBI agent (Eric McCormack), a single mother (Nesta Cooper) and a college student (Reilly Dolman)– discover that 21st-century relationships are as much of a challenge as their high-stakes missions. The cast also stars MacKenzie Porter, Jared Abrahamson and Patrick Gilmore.

Then here is a message to the powers that be at NBC: please do something about Blindspot! The show is now in its fourth season, and will be returning with new episodes on January 11; however, the show needs an overall. Our lead character Jane (series regular Jaimie Alexander) has reverted back to Remi, her original identity, but to be honest viewers do not like Remi! We want our Jane back. Give the team a great villain to go after instead of making Jane the villain. Oh, and please give more screen time to Patterson and RichDotCom, as they are the best part of the show!!

Lastly, here is a message to the folks behind The CW’s post-apocalyptic series The 100 as well as TV viewers. First, TV viewers, please watch the show. Sure it’s violent, and last season was downright creepy at time, but it is so good. If you need to catch on the past five seasons, you can watch The 100 on Netflix; but please keep in mind that season one is NOTHING like the rest of the seasons. As for the folks behind the show, PLEASE, PLEASE let the characters in the upcoming 6th season have something good happen to them. Those who have survived everything that has taken place in the series to date deserve to have some good in their lives. Sure that doesn’t make for interesting TV, but they’ve all been through the ringer and should get to enjoy something good for once.

Hope you all have a very Happy New Year!

Using her favorite online handle, Rueben is an East Coast-bred gal who is now a permanent Californian and a lifelong tv-oholic. She watches at least 25 TV shows a week, goes to the movies as often as possible, listens to music every waking moment, reads every day and “plays” on the internet every chance she can. Some of her current favorite TV shows are Outlander, Sweet Magnolias, Wednesday, The Mandalorian, The Equalizer, Fire Country, Miss Scarlet, Hudson & Rex, SkyMed, The Rookie, Cobra Kai, Virgin River, The Witcher, Leverage: Redemption and School Spirits. She is looking forward to the long-awaited return of Bridgerton, is curious about the debut of Orphan Black: Echoes and the 3rd and final season of Sweet Tooth coming in June, and the season finales of the abbreviated 2023-2024 TV season.
