MANIFEST: Dead Reckoning {Roundtable}

By  |

On this week’s Manifest: when Ben and Michaela put everything on the line to save the other missing passengers, the mission goes horribly awry.

We are using a new ratings system known as SASSY – S(tupid), A(wesome), S(o) S(o) Y(Your Thoughts):

Stupid:

Roz: Grace you’re so sanctimonious here for reasons that you shouldn’t be! Cal and Ben have a connection as passengers that you’ll never have. I get that you’re frustrated that Cal was in danger, but you’re not part of this group and it’s bigger than you.

Rueben: For once Olive wasn’t the annoying one in the show – it was Grace. I agree with Roz that she is really being sanctimonious right now. And, why kill off Vance just when the passengers had him in their corner.

Cay: Did we really have to break Grace and Ben up again that fast? And kill Vance? It’s like all the gains made last episode have been reversed and instead of being intrigued by it all, I’m just kind of annoyed.

Leah: I can not believe we were subjected to what felt like never ending Ben and Grace family drama only for them to split. What the ever loving….

Awesome:

Roz: Oh man, what is that UDS guy doing recruiting a fellow passenger for? I get that we need more mythos and the like, but that’s a twist I didn’t see coming and I’m so curious about where it goes.

Rueben: I wondered a little at the time when Autumn showed up at Ben’s house if there was more to her than just being an escaped passenger who had a calling to seek out Ben , and then when the twist reveal was made, I wanted to scream. Nice little twist. I have to question if the calling actually saved Jared or not. Also what is the deal with Ben seeing that peacock momentarily after the explosion.

Cay: Sending the passenger as a spy back to Ben was a nice twist – he has shown that he will believe pretty much anyone associated with the plane.

Leah: I’m torn between Vance dying and Jared being “saved” by The Calling. Vance dying means no one is safe….he was a pretty major character. The Calling/Power saving people, well that’s a whole new wrinkle.

So-So:

Roz: Who parties with a barbecue in cold-ish weather? That party idea was sweet, but truly not timed correctly.

Rueben: Yeah, Roz is right. The party was sweet but ill-timed. And, Cal took a bus to get to his dad at the warehouse? That was almost too easy for him to get there that quickly. Really?

Cay: This whole episode was so-so for me

Your Thoughts:

Roz: This plan from the man in the suit better be pretty good to leave me hanging for months at a time for.

Rueben: Who was the voice on the other end of that video presentation when the doctors were starting up the tests on the passengers again? What new evil lurks there?

Cay: Ugh, a month long “cliffhanger” after pretty much destroying everything that the show had worked towards at this point. This episode didn’t get me all wrapped up in it – I find myself less interested in the next episode than I have been. It’s like they crushed the viewer’s hope along with Ben’s marriage and Vance’s life…

Leah: I need some more clarification on the secret testing “baddies” overall plan.

Manifest returns in January for more episodes. Check out all of our previous Manifest coverage here.
