Do You Remember: Terriers

By  |

Back in the fall of 2010, FX debuted the new crime comedy-drama Terriers from series creator Ted Griffin [who went on to be a co-producer on the box office movie The Wolf of Wall Street] and executive producers Shawn Ryan (Timeless and S.W.A.T.) and Tim Minear (American Horror Story, 9-1-1 and Feud).

The series starred Donal Logue (of Gotham fame) and Michael Raymond-James (best known for his roles on True Blood and Once Upon a Time). Logue played former Ocean Beach police officer and recovering alcoholic Hank Dolworth, who partnered with his best friend, and former criminal, Britt Pollack (Raymond-James) in an unlicensed private investigation business.

The rest of the main cast included the following:

Laura Allen (Ravenswood and Hap and Leonard) who played Britt’s girlfriend Katie Nichols

Kimberly Quinn (Twisted and the Netflix drama Gypsy), who played Gretchen Dolworth, Hank’s ex-wife

Jamie Denbo (Orange Is the New Black), who played Maggie Lefferts, Hank’s attorney and part-time employer

Rockmond Dunbar (Prison Break and 9-1-1), who played Detective Mark Gustafson, Hank’s friend and former partner

Donal’s real-life sibling Karina Logue had a recurring role, playing Hank’s sister Stephanie “Steph” Dolworth while actor Michael Gaston (Unforgettable and Blindspot) also had a recurring role, playing Ben Zeitlin, a local attorney.

While the following actors appeared in one episode each:

Noel Fisher (Shameless and The Long Road Home)
Olivia Williams (Manhattan and Counterpart)
Cameron Monaghan (Shameless and Gotham)
Jerrika Hinton (Grey’s Anatomy)

The show, unfortunately, didn’t perform well in the ratings, but received a lot of critical praise. Among the accolades the show received included Time Magazine’s James Poniewozik ranking the show at #10 in his top 10 list of TV shows for 2010; The Daily Beast’s Jace Lacob selecting it for his top 10 shows of the year; HitFix.com’s Alan Sepinwall ranking Terriers as #3 on his top 10 list and #1 on his list of best new shows of 2010.

Sadly the show only aired 13 episodes from September 8 to December 1, 2010. FX cancelled the show on December 6.
