Women of the Week

By  |

The Nice Girls were definitely in agreement as to who wowed us on screen this week. Read on to find out who we selected as our Women of the Week and why…

Nominated by Ange: Lyric Ross as Deja on This Is Us

The writers took a huge leap of faith focusing an episode (and the penultimate one for the season at that) on a secondary character but the risk paid off with Ross really rising to the occasion and carrying the episode. This young actress was impressive with her portrayal of a young girl who had to grow up too quickly because of her circumstances.

Seconded by Melissa

Lyric Ross, 100 percent. She carried the entire episode of a show on which she’s only a recurring star with ease. I am so impressed.

Thirded by Karen

Lyric is thirded from me. Getting to see a flashback from someone other than a main character was unexpected, and they did an amazing job. She carried it handily, and I’m always stunned when someone her age acts with the talent and poise of someone 10+ her senior. VIP status for sure.

Nominated by Rueben: Ashley Johnson as Patterson on Blindspot

I have to go with Patterson (Ashley Johnson) from Friday night’s new episode of Blindspot. She was seriously injured in an explosion in the lab and kept living a groundhog day-like loop while she was in a coma. It was a crazy whirlwind with odes to The Matrix and even The Breakfast Club before she finally figured out what really happened in the case and refused to die. She even got to do one wicked fight scene almost ala Kill Bill or Buffy the Vampire Slayer.

Ange is the Girl from Oz who travelled the States. Teen dramas, rom-comedies and superhero shows are her weakness. She also loves a good crime and medical drama and probably watches more TV than she can handle... You can contact her at ange@nicegirlstv.com.
