ONE CHICAGO Women: Chicago P.D. 3×18 recap

By  |

It’s been a couple of weeks of hiatus for the ONE CHICAGO shows, but this week we saw the return of  Chicago P.D. with Chicago Med and Chicago Fire to follow next week. Here’s what the leading ladies of Chicago P.D. were up to this week…

Erin Lindsay: This week’s case involved a shooting at a secret battered women’s shelter, which in turn revealed some things about Lindsay’s past. After a man was found shot dead at a convenience store (he was helping guard the shelter) and the woman who runs the shelter was also shot and rushed to hospital in a critical state, Lindsay was eager to solve the case and find out who was responsible – a fact that didn’t go unnoticed by Voight, who then warned Lindsay to slow down a little. As tough as Lindsay is, she is also empathetic and it’s that empathetic nature that allows victims to open up to her. As a number of women from the shelter opened up to her this week, we also saw Lindsay opening up to them and revealing that she too once sought refuge in a shelter. This was something that her partner Halstead wasn’t even aware of and at the end of the episode, she tells him about it over a drink at Molly’s. We already knew that Lindsay’s mother Bunny is not exactly someone Lindsay could ever rely on and that when Lindsay was 11, she briefly stayed at a shelter. Her own mother didn’t even remember her first day at school so the woman from the shelter walked her to school. Lindsay then revealed that she even drove past the shelter a few weeks ago and saw that same woman walking another little girl to school.

Kim Burgess: While the Intelligence team were working the women’s shelter shooting case, Burgess and her partner Roman were busy working on their own case involving a man being catfished and robbed over a dating app. The two cops decide to create a fake profile on the app to try and catch the culprit. While they prepare, Burgess learns that Roman also has a profile on the app but hasn’t used it to hook up with anyone. Going off her reactions, dating apps aren’t really Burgess’s thing. I can’t put my finger on it, but there was something that made Burgess and Roman extra hilarious this week. I really loved watching them on this case and I’m not the only one who thought so…

Hilarity aside, there was also a sweet moment between Burgess and Roman this week. Burgess had tickets to a Shakespeare show, which she had bought while she was still together with Ruzek, and although Roman earlier in the ep had made it clear that were plenty of other things he would rather be doing than going to see Shakespeare, when Burgess arrived for the show that night, there Roman was. He said he was trained never to let his partner walk through the door alone, and so there he was. Aww! I know there’s a lot of speculation as to whether Roman has feelings for Burgess and I guess time will tell, but I think that was a nice gesture on his behalf.

Trudy Platt: Apart from thinking it was a reference to a Dr. Seuss book when Burgess told her that she and Roman were going to “Catfish the Catfisher”, we don’t see much of Trudy this week.

Chicago Med airs Tuesdays at 9/8c, Chicago Fire airs Tuesdays at 10/9c and Chicago P.D. airs Wednesdays at 10/9c. All three shows air on NBC.
