ONE CHICAGO Women: Chicago P.D. 3×11 recap

By  |

Due to the State of Union address, Chicago P.D. was riding solo this week and I have to say this week’s case was definitely one of the most disturbing that I have seen on the show. As a result, we saw some pretty strong scenes with the show’s leading ladies in this episode…

Erin Lindsay: As Intelligence attend the scene of a crime after a couple and their 14-year-old daughter awoke to find that their house had been invaded and trashed and they had slept through the whole thing thanks to the perps knocking them out with laughing gas, it is Lindsay who realises that the girl had been sexually assaulted during the ordeal (horrifying I know) and quietly gets her checked out at Chicago Med. As tough as Lindsay is, she also has a big heart and we saw that this week as she gently spoke with not just the young victim, but the victim’s distraught and frustrated father.

Thanks to some contacts from her “furlong” days, Lindsay discovers who supplied the laughing gas and Intelligence convinces the suspect to throw a party that night, which they’ll attend undercover in order to draw out the guy behind the attacks. As they bust who they think is the guy behind the attack and question him, another invasion happens with another female victim assaulted. After the latest victim leaves the hospital, Lindsay goes to her home to see if she can identify the men who assaulted her. Little does Lindsay (or the rest of Intelligence at this point) know that she is part of the invaders from the first incident and the second was just a set up, so next you know Lindsay is being knocked out while chatting to the second “victim” and when she comes to, finds herself tied and gagged to a bed. Thankfully at this point, the Intelligence guys have worked it all out and just as one of the guys is about to assault Lindsay, Halstead storms in and shoots the guy with no hesitation. Outside the house, Lindsay confronts the “victim” for pulling such a despicable crime and when the woman spits at her, Lindsay punches her in the face before the guys drag her away. Back at precinct in the bullpen’s break room, partner and boyfriend Halstead checks on her and Lindsay puts on a brave face. He begs her in the future not to go anywhere without backup, and not just her in case you were wondering if it’s a gender thing, but anyone in the team.  Once the work day is done, Lindsay goes to see the family of the original invasion to let them know that they’ve caught the guys who did this to them.

Kim Burgess: The tension that is no doubt about to bubble between Burgess and her fiance Ruzek because of their delayed wedding was definitely hinted at this week, and certainly not helped by the fact that Sgt Platt keeps rubbing her own engagement in Burgess’s face and gloating that she and her own fiance Mouch will be married before Burgess and Ruzek. This bragging happens right before Burgess and her partner Roman are assigned to pick up Eddie, an old friend of Voight’s from prison. When the two patrol officers arrive back at the district with Eddie, he tells Ruzek off for delaying wedding plans, leaving Ruzek confused and wandering why Burgess is talking to a stranger about their relationship. He tries to ask her about it while they’re undercover at the party, but she tells him it’s not the time to discuss. Yep, we’re waiting for that conversation to happen and for things to implode any time now…

Trudy Platt: Now that she’s engaged, Platt wastes no time rubbing it in fellow policewoman Burgess’s face, especially since she’s already started planning her wedding whilst Burgess, who has now been engaged for months, seems to be lacking in plans. Speaking of plans, Platt also asks Burgess for her wedding book that she lent her back. At the end of the episode, Platt and Mouch meet up with Platt’s father to talk about the wedding, which Platt was pretty excited about. However, once they have a few drinks, her dad reveals that he is broke and therefore won’t be able to afford the wedding. Platt is pretty horrified to say the least. Looks like she’ll need to reevaluate those wedding plans!

Chicago P.D. airs Wednesdays at 10/9c on NBC. Chicago Med and Chicago Fire will be back on air on NBC next Tuesday at 8/9c and 10/9c respectively.
