Syfy Channel’s new series, 12 Monkeys, flew to the top o the charts in its debut last Friday night. It shattered channel records for a series premiere, soaring 85 percent among Adults 18-49, the highest lift ever based on L+3 data. According to the press release, 12 Monkeys “delivered 1.0 million Adults 18-49, 1.1 million Adults 25-54 (+73 percent) and 2.3 million total viewers (+73 percent) from its Live+SD deliveries on Friday, January 16.”
With a cast list like this, who’s surprised?
Aaron Stanford (as time-traveler Cole), Amanda Schull (Dr. Cassandra Railly), Kirk Acevedo (Ramse), Barbara Sukowa (Jones), Noah Bean (Aaron Marker), Tom Noonan as a mysterious villain and Emily Hampshire as mental patient Jennifer Goines.
Then there’s the storytellers. It’s a very impressive lineup: Charles Roven (American Hustle, Man of Steel, The Dark Knight Trilogy) and Richard Suckle (American Hustle, The International), as executive producers. (Roven served as producer on the original film.) Natalie Chaidez (In Plain Sight, V, Heroes) is the executive producer/showrunner and Terry Matalas & Travis Fickett (Nikita), who co-wrote the pilot, will serve as co-executive producers. Come on, that’s a win – win!
Natalie Chaidez stands out among us Nice Girls for also giving us Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles, Necessary Roughness and The Client List. 12 Monkeys is in good hands, kids.
The series, airs Fridays at 9PM (ET/PT).
