Introducing Starz’s The White Queen

On August 10, the 10-episode Starz series The White Queen will begin airing weekly at 9 PM.

Based on the novel series by Philippa Gregory, the mini is set against the backdrop of the Wars of the Roses, the mini-series is the story of the women caught up in the long-drawn-out conflict for the throne of England.

The White Queen starts in 1464; the nation has been at war for nine years fighting over who is the rightful King of England. As two sides of the same family, the House of York and the House of Lancaster, are in violent conflict over the throne. The story focuses on three women in their quest for power, as they manipulate behind the scenes of history—Elizabeth Woodville, Margaret Beaufort and Anne Neville.

The cast includes Max Irons (The Host), Aneurin Barnard (the made-for-TV movie We’ll Take Manhattan), Rebecca Ferguson (the Swedish series Nya tider), Amanda Hale (Ripper Street), newcomer Fay Marsay, Janet McTeer (Damages), Eleanor Tomlinson (Jack the Giant Slayer) and James Frain (True Blood).
